CAT WBB vs weber

Post by CatRowdy » Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:58 am

Today in the Brick @ 2:00pm.... The Women Cats take on Weber. Weber has had some close games and while the ladies ought have a solid win; Weber has been getting better and making teams work. 2-2 for conference play, they have beaten Northern Colorado and Idaho State They fell to Northern Arizona and the griz. With the griz they had a horrible third quarter but almost made a comeback in the fourth. They played eight players, with seven getting somewhat equal minutes. The Cats should be able to wear them out!!
Looking forward to great game for the Cats!

Can't wait, should be a great game! Hoping for a big crowd to cheer on the team today, they deserve equal support to what the men get!

The ladies deserve more support than the men this year IMHO.

Cats look like their usual dominant selves at the first media timeout. 13 - 0 good guys with 0 turnovers by my count and forcing at least 5 against BBQU. I only see 9 players for Weebs dressed. That's gonna be tough sledding for them.

Hey SACCAT, will you please offer Kola a fulltime time job as your color commentator? She is great to listen to!

Much better than that one from Missoula that does the tournament. I think her name is Redfern or Redpath.

I was really impressed with Weber. They held up against out waves of fresh players and went on multiple runs to keep it interesting for most of the game. And they did it with only 8 players of their own. But let's talk about those Bobcats! 32 turnovers forced, 18 steals, and 42 points in the paint? As Dickie V. would say, "Are you serious?"

Agreed, after MSU quickly went up 13-0 I thought it would be a total blowout like the ISU game. But Weber fought hard and got the lead as low as 5 at one point, then down to 9 early in the fourth quarter. It certainly won't be an easy game when the Bobcats go to Ogden. Nice win though, ultimately most teams just won't be able to hold up to MSU's depth and constant pressure on defense.

That was the best non-Cat/Griz crowd for a women's game in a while. As for the students, I laughed when they announced that the first 500 students get free cowboy hats at the men's game on Monday. They'll be lucky to give away 50!

Ended up a 24 point blowout, but there were some nervous-ish moments. Weber had a few chances to cut the lead to 3 in the 3rd quarter-not sure they even got a shot off on any of those possessions though. Binford calls off the dogs and Bunyan, Robbins, and Erickson eat them alive. Our depth is just insane. Credit to Weber. Their zone slowed our offense down a lot and their bigs finish pretty well under the basket. The Bobcats had a few more turnovers and so many 3's go in and out-which kept it interesting for a long while. They didn't play as perfect as Thursday night, but that's understandable.

Next one is Monday night at EWU. While many of us were on the way to Frisco, EWU almost stole one in the Brick. MSU blew a big lead, got behind by 5 or more, and then went on a 4th quarter run to get the win. So hopefully we can put together a more complete game against the Eagles on Monday.

Natalie Picton should be in the running for player of the weak. Esme Morales is attracting an awful lot of attention which has been great for Picton and Philip especially who are really playing outstanding.

Of all the great plays on this homestand, this might be my favorite. Philip with the steal on the baseline and then an inch perfect pass to Picton for one bounce and a layup. Just beautiful basketball

Offer free pizza to throw on the court… [-X
Ok so I attended my first ever Lady Cats BB game today. I live 4.5 hours away, I’m here for a dear friends 80th Birthday party and I’m here for every football game. It gets expensive people. Been seeing highlights on the news at home, been following there success on social media etc. It was very well attended, more than the men’s game I was too, Sunday after Cat Gris. They play IN YOUR FACE D and and cause a ton of turnovers and capitalize on most of them. I hope to get to attend more soon. I spent $80 to buy some red to get a $5 ticket….math wasn’t my strongest subject. The ](*,) Just kidding wanted to support a great cause

With success comes attention, with attention comes cockiness, with cockiness comes arrogance, with arrogance comes rudeness...and they wonder why I hate the Griz ! FTG

I was a the game. Had a lot of fun. I didn’t think the game was ever in jeopardy, even when Weber closed the gap a few times. Three point shooting was pretty bad on both sides and the Cats insisted on shooting these tough to convert reverse lay ups way too many times. I think they hit one. A couple of freshmen showed their inexperience at times but this is one deep team. I love the full court press the Cats ran, Weber had a really tough time with it.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

I got busy and forgot the game started at 2. DOH! Picking a favorite player on this team is impossible. There are about 10 to choose from. Taylee is honestly just fun to watch no matter where the ball is at, as SACCAT said, she plays with reckless abandon.

When you get an assist 80 feet from the basket you're doing something right. What an outlet pass!
