WBB at Sac State

Post by MSU01 » Thu Jan 30, 2025 11:19 am

The Bobcat women play their third of four consecutive road games in Sacramento tonight at 7:30 PM Mountain time. MSU is the heavy favorite as they'll be in most games they play, but Sac State has been pretty strong in their two conference home games so far (3-point win over UNC and a 5-point loss to NAU in a game Sac State led in the fourth quarter). Sac's leading scorer is Jaydia Martin, who played three seasons for EWU and was Big Sky freshman of the year in 2021-22 before transferring this past off-season. Hopefully the Bobcats can keep things going and get the win, although I'm expecting another close game that may not be the stress-free viewing experience we'd like it to be!

Get off to a good start. Get the lead. Hold all or at least most of the lead. If this team can quit having those long cold spells on offense they can run the table!

I thought, “good, I haven’t missed much. It’s 3-3.” 7 minutes played?

Barn burner. 7-5 Cats at the half.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

Thanks, duh. I guess that's what happens when you switch from the men's game at halftime. :o

Chrrick is absolutely nuts out there on defense. No way she only has two steals like the box score says. And fortunately she has three more years to work on that shooting form!

Cats by 11 at the half 26-15, big struggle on offense but even bigger struggle for Sac against the MSU defense. Would love to see the young Bobcat post players develop more confidence to go up with the ball without hesitation when they get it in good positions down low. Draw those fouls and score from the line!

Sizeable lead MSU 50 Sac St. 33 in the 4th Q 7:25 left. Slow 1st Q but they’re continuing to build a good lead.

There looked to be only twice as many fans as the band on that one side of the court for Sac St. Sad. Go Bobcats & Bobcat Nation!!

Nice to see the Cats take care of business on the road. Chirrick gets a lot of the attention and rightfully so, but I liked what I saw from Addison Harris tonight as well. Lots of talent and I think things are about to "click" for her offensively sooner rather than later.

Good to see them build a lead and hold on to it. Sac St isn't a bad team and usually tough at home. Good win!

That number definitely includes the players, coaches, trainers, referees, bus drivers, ball boys, security staff, concession workers, and announcers. I'm sure things will get better when they move into their "new" basketball facility next year!

I think Taylee committed as many turnovers as she forced. I like how she comes in and wrecks a game on defense. Just needs to calm down on the offensive end. She was a prolific scorer in high school. I think she'll get there here as well with time.

If we can manage to get a win against Portland State tomorrow it will then set up one of the biggest women's games ever next Thursday evening against NAU in the Brick. NAU has a really good team and a very good post game. I'm amazed that we were able to beat them at THEIR place earlier.

To me the ONE thing our team lacks is a strong inside post game OFFENSIVELY. But we are strong in every other position. I fantasize but if we had for example a strong, healthy Lindsey Heinz who could make quick offensive moves to score in the paint, this team would be beyond incredible. Just a fantasy, we are good as it is. Anyway, get it done ladies in Portland!

They have had some impressive teams over the years with coach Binford…. But this one might be my favorite to watch (and they might be the most talented).

The sac state game was unbelievable…. Like 4 out of every 5 possessions sac state couldn’t even cross the half court line without turning it over.

Chirrick is ridiculously good on defense.

It's too bad that Lexi Deden is clearly not back to her pre-injury self, she's trying her best out there but it's not just clicking yet for her in the limited minutes she plays. I have high hopes for Addison Harris, she is improving by the game and I think she has a lot of potential room to grow in the next month before Boise.

But overall, yes...just an incredibly fun team to watch. And so many of the players will be back for two or three more seasons after this one. Binford is doing an amazing job of recruiting right now.
