Dang! I was afraid of that. Feel bad for Dylan who was having an incredible game against the griz before she got hurt, and we would have lost to the griz in Missoula without her. She did a lot of little things that don't show up on the stat sheet. It will be imperative that Taylee Chirrick stay out of foul trouble and not get tired (Taylee won't get tired). Depth will be tested, but we've got lots of depth to test!

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
So unfortunate! Was fantastic to see her out on the court this season after rehabbing injuries the past 2 seasons. Dylan is such a presence on the court. In the injury report, Dykstra is listed as day-to-day after suffering a lower leg injury. Probably out for tmw’s game vs. Portland State. The real test of depth for the team will be vs. Idaho on Monday.

I didn't realize Brooke was hurt but the article mentions her and Drea as getting medical redshirts for this year.

Big bummer about Philip. Although I doubt that it will happen, I'd like to see Bunyan moved into the starting lineup and keep the super sub Chirrick being that huge spark off the bench, with obviously more playing minutes.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 2:25 pmDang! Tough deal for Dylan, I was hoping for the best but I can't say I'm surprised given how the injury looked on Saturday. Good to hear that Marah is day-to-day, I'm assuming they don't take any chances against PSU and Sac as they should easily be able to win both those games without her.

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
Whether she starts or not I hope and expect that Bunyan will get way more minutes to help fill the gap left from the season ending injury to Philip. I trust that Binford knows best, but it has at least been a little baffling to see Bunyan's minutes cut so drastically from last year. While it's true that her 6 minutes of play in Cat Griz last week came at the end of the game, still it's dang impressive that she created 3 steals that led to 3 fast breaks and made 2 assists on those breaks. I hope her minutes get into double digits, teens would be nice, twenties would be awesome.arvcat2 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 3:21 pmBig bummer about Philip. Having Dykstra and Philip out is a bad thing and yet I fully expect to see this team rally and play with greater determination than if those injuries hadn't happened. That's just the type of mentality and ability this team has.

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
From the report put out by MSU no real clarification as to how bad of an injury or precise type of injury.
Binford also announced that junior forward Marah Dykstra is listed as day-to-day after suffering a lower leg injury against Montana.
They beat PSU 85-39 on the road 4 weeks ago so there is no way that Marah needs to play on Thurs. against PSU.
The same is true about the game on Saturday against Sac State who the Cats beat 67-45.
It might be nice to have her back on Monday March 3 for the at Idaho game. The Cats only beat ID 59-56 in Brick Breeden way back on Jan 2. Even for that game there should be no need to rush her back if she's at all questionable.

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
All we have to do is win one of the next three to have the number one seed since we already have the tie breaker over NAU correct? They should get that done on Thursday night against a pretty bad PSU team (1 conference win). But this team is playing for so much more. Running the table through the tournament gets them a much higher NCAA seed, but also just going undefeated would make this team a Big Sky all-timer. Losing Dylan and a banged up Marah sure doesn't help. Lexi and Taylor getting closer to full fitness is so key.
Idaho will be tough. They're pretty good but they've been up and down. The game in Bozeman wasn't as close as the final score would lead one to believe, but we had some cold spells in that one, and we hadn't figured out how to get back on the press when they broke it giving them a lot of layups. Hopefully that's been corrected.

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
I feel so bad for Dylan after working so hard to come back from last year. What a trooper and a first-class teammate. Her defensive efforts will definitely be missed and as stated earlier, she did a lot of little things for the Bobcats that added up over a complete game.
58-57!! You're final score!! Daniel Salle

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
Correct, they need one win to clinch a share of the regular season title and #1 seed, and two wins to win the outright regular season title. It'll be interesting to see how they approach that Monday game against Idaho if they're 17-0 going into it and have nothing to play for in terms of conference tournament implications. I'm guessing that Coach Binford has NCAA Tournament seeding in the back of her mind even if the team has the "1-0" mentality and isn't looking ahead that far.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:46 amAll we have to do is win one of the next three to have the number one seed since we already have the tie breaker over NAU correct? Normally I would agree that we can coast somewhat, but some NET rankings have MSU high enough that there might be a possiblity of receiving an at large bid if we lose in the tournament. Not sure that I agree with that but you know the only team that really handled us this year was Utah, and if I'm not mistaken Utah beat Notre Dame that was ranked number one in the nation before NC State upset them in OT.

Re: Dylan Philip out for the season.
We're really blessed with some amazing women in this team. Coach Bin in her interview yeatserday after the game mentioned that she credits Dylan with how the team handled her injury. You can hear her get a little pationate when she talks about it. So i just want to recognize how amazing Dylan is with more than just her play on the court but who she is off the court for this team as well.
