Boom!! Davian Brown

Full disclosure, I know nothing about this young man's game or potential, but I have a hard time getting excited about NAIA guys moving up. Would much rather see power 4/5 drop downs looking for opportunity to play, maybe with a little chip on their shoulder. I just don't see a recipe for success recruiting from the NAIA ranks. jmo!MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:47 amA little more information on Davian Brown after doing some searching this morning:
Played first two years at Lewis-Clark State (NAIA) in Idaho. Averaged 14.8 PPG as a freshman and 12.9 PPG as a sophomore, then transferred to Biola (D-2) for one year. His free throw percentage jumps out at you from the stats as he has been at 88% each of the past two seasons. Shot 40% on 3s as a freshman but that has dropped into the mid 30s the last two seasons. He had 76 total assists all of last season so doesn't appear to necessarily be a true point guard like Darius was.
There are some great players at NAIA and D2, maybe didn't have grades or were not on travel teams etc. Lot of D2 that moved up had good seasons for high level teams. But, have to be right fit. We have a lot to fill. I just hope the transfers we do get play, last couple years many never saw the floor which seems like poor recruitingCats and Dogs wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 2:07 pmFull disclosure, I know nothing about this young man's game or potential, but I have a hard time getting excited about NAIA guys moving up. What I read is that he had two years at The Masters University (NAIA), two at LC State (NAIA) and one at Biola. Somehow his one year at MSU will be his 6th. You are correct, I missed those first two years. One of the few players still left around because of the Covid year, not sure how he gets to play six years but who knows with college sports these days. I feel like we aren't too far off from eligibility being done away with entirely so that players can stay in college as long as the teams will have them!84CatGrad wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 4:33 pmWhat I read is that he had two years at The Masters University (NAIA), two at LC State (NAIA) and one at Biola. Just wait until some judge rules that NAIA years don’t count against NCAA eligibility and he’ll have three full years left to play.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 4:40 pmYou are correct, I missed those first two years.
