Played hooky today with my middle schooler and watched the first day of the decathlon and heptathlon.

I thought our men and women did really well. I don't know what the expectations were, but it looked like the athletes were pretty pleased with their performances.

Weather wasn't too much of a factor I didn't think. We can't attend most of tomorrow, but we'll play hooky again Friday afternoon. I am going to try and show up toward the end of tomorrow just to see who places.

GO CATS!

The meet went very well for us. A strong third for our women, and fourth for our men. We had great support from family, friends, alum and administrators. Our support system has never been better. Our athletes were ready and competed with all of their heart. UM did a good job hosting the event. It was well organized and officiated. The weather was near perfect, especially the final day.

Personally, this was one of my best experiences ever at a BSC championship. I'm very proud of our team, their sportsmanship and connection with one another. We are losing so much to graduation, athletes that I will always remember.
What an amazing group.

We go to Norman, OK for Regionals on May 29-30.

We'll take 16

Dan Johnson 400
Elli Rudy vault
Matt Atkinson-Adams Steeple
Kevin Ludwig triple jump
Casey Clausen shot
Alli Jones shot, hammer
Amanda Murphy shot, hammer
Kris Schaffer shot
Kirstin Lee discus
David Phillips hammer
Pat Eckerson hammer
Dan van Swearingen javelin
Nick Lam javelin
Dustin Degen javelin
Lena Suek javelin
Emily Tyrrell javelin

Watching the Championships was as much fun as I've ever had watching a sporting event. Great efforts by the Cats. Lots of gutsy performances and the crowd was totally into it, especially on Saturday.

Good luck at Regionals!
