New Website Launches Monday

Post by msusportsinfo » Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:33 pm

Montana State University Athletics announced a partnership with ICS/Sidearm of Syracuse, New York for a new website to be unveiled Monday, October 26.

“We’ve been working with Sidearm to develop the new site that will be loaded with interactive features for our fans and the media,” Director of Athletics Peter Field said. “The new site includes features like video, podcasts and social media such as Twitter, You Tube and Facebook to help us deliver timely information to the public. The look is also something totally different from what we have now. I think our fans are going to be very excited when they see it.”

ICS/Sidearm is also the provider for the Big Sky Conference website. Currently, ICS has 49 NCAA Division I colleges and universities in its portfolio including Syracuse University, University of Hawaii, Temple, Colgate, University of Portland and others. In addition, ICS hosts sites for over 280 other NCAA DII and III, NAIA, junior colleges and conference sites.

“We’re excited about the options we get being with the same company as our conference,” Fields said. “Our game updates will be automatically displayed on the conference website as well as our own. It gives our fans a lot of options.”

When the new site goes up Monday around noon, not all computer users will be able to see the site right away. Different internet service providers refresh their systems at various times. Because the new site will be hosted by a different company than it is now, it may take some providers as much as two or three days to catch up. Those viewers who do not get the new site right away will still be able to access all the information on the old server hosted by MSU.

“Our fans won’t lose any information if their internet service providers don’t update right away,” Director of Media Relations Bill Lamberty said. “We will continue to update the old site with all the same stories and information for a few days after the new site launches completely on all internet service providers.”

MSU Athletics’ website has been hosted by Montana State University since its inception. The website will maintain the same URL address of http://www.msubobcats.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
