Looks like a great signing the the Cats in the throws department. He has some big time marks coming out of high school.

Re: T&F - XC
Seems like a great pick up. Hard to get those good out of state men when there are less scholarships to go around on that side. Alec Nehring, who I THINK is finished up now had similar marks in the shot (slightly better) but not as good in the discus. 193' is big time for the BSC. Obviously he'll be throwing bigger implements in college but that's a great foundation. We haven't had anybody in MT throw 193 in about 10 years. Brandon Forson from Deer Lodge threw 195 in 2011 I think. He went to Missoula but decided college wasn't for him. For comparison, Walker McDonald from Seeley is one of the best overall throwers in MT this year and he was 174 in the discus and 55 in the shot...he's headed to missoula. MSU is also picking up Talon Holmquist from Whitefish, and he threw the shotput 57 feet this year. I think he could turn into a good one too. Just a huge frame, athletic kid. His uncle is Wes Holmquist who is the GBB coach at Gallatin High (used to coach boys at Bozeman High).

Duncan Hamilton takes second in the 3000 M steeplechase final with a personal best time of (8:18.878). Awesome race with 8 runners setting PBs. Top 3 runners were within .18 seconds of each other. Levi Taylor placed 9th with a time of 8:33.37. Way to go Duncan and Levi!
Edit to add Duncan led the first 7 laps, that's a heavy burden to haul and dang near got it done wire to wire.

Levi Taylor might be in the running for the most underrated Bobcat of all time. If not for Duncan, he would be a freaking hero.

Re: T&F - XC
If math skills have improved, Levi's time looks like it would have been a 3rd place at regionals. Future looks bright for him.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 7:45 pmDuncan Hamilton takes second in the 3000 M steeplechase final with a personal best time of (8:18.878). Lucy Corbett competing now in the high jump. She cleared the opening height of 1.72 M on her first attempt. So far everybody is still competing and the current height is 1.77 M

Re: T&F - XC
At the 1.77 M five jumpers have been eliminated. Commenters on ESPN noted that there is a light rain, I assume that might keep heights low. At the 1.8 M now and Lucy jumping.... missed her first attempt at 1.8 M.

Re: T&F - XC
And Lucy missed all three attempts at 1.8 meters. If I'm looking at the results correctly that put Lucy at a tie for 15th place. Pretty dang good!

Congrats to the women's team for tying for 63rd place. And they tied NAU. Good things coming to track next year.

Re: T&F - XC
Really good stuff. Christina Aragon at Stanford did well but not considerably better than she would have at MSU. Obviously she can't pass up the opportunity to go to Stanford so I wouldn't blame anybody for going there, but hopefully we can start hanging on to some of the elite Montana distance runners who have been going out of state in recent years. MSU is a program and the BSC is a conference where those athletes will get as good a shot as anywhere.

Re: T&F - XC
Princeton surprises me. I don't think of them as a T&F power.
Super job BOBCATS.
