Anyone know Rodeo???

Post by Cats15 » Tue Dec 07, 2004 1:56 pm

I was watching espn2 lastnight and they had the NFR on and i really got into it.(being from montnan and all. )I was just wondering if anyone knows what the hell happened to the CNFR in bozeman . I remember being little and going to it. It was really fun and was packed. Why did they leave Bozeman.

If memory serves, it had to do with the University not wanting to allow tobacco adds on campus and since tobacco companies are the main sponsers we parted ways. Pretty big statement by MSU considering the amount of potential revenue lost both by the school as well as the community.

Tobacco was the issue that drove the CNFR out of town. I have been told it is a great success down in Wyoming now so I don't think we could get it back if we wanted to at this point. It really is too bad, what a great boost to Bozeman and MSU.

One note on the NFR, this is the first time in about 5 or 6 years that I am not going to attend part of the NFR in Vegas. If you have the opportunity to go, DO IT!! Such a great rodeo every year, and the whole town is geared up for it.

IT ALSO HAD TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE COMPANYS WERE GIVING OUT FREE SAMPLES TO EVERYONE OF AGE.

I'm going to be in Vegas this weekend, but I'm passing on the rodeo. I'm sure I'll be seeing lots o' hats, though.

As someone who has had the misfortune of accidentally drinking from a snoose-chewer's spit can (he used a Keystone Light can, and our party was all Keystone Light, and he left it right where I had put my beer down, and I was already kind of drunk), good riddance to any event that promotes that crap. I've never puked so hard and so fast in my life.

Out of college and still drinking keystone light... It harkens me back to the days of going to Joe's and buying the out of date XXX beer for $3 a case.... ahh those were the days.

:) Thats why I always turn the tab around on all the beer cans I drink. Check it out, it makes it flow easier as well as air can go around the sides. I always know its my beer .... I have had some friends have the same experience as you had and I'm trying to avoid that :) .. ICKY

Good idea Cardiac. I had a guy spill his spit can on my lap and almost lost my cookies. I can't imagine taking a big swig of it. I am getting nauseous just thinking about it.

Trust me, it is even gross when you take a big ole' swig out of your own spit can. That's a moment you'll never want to relive.

Well you can't say I'm getting off topic on this one...

I had a buddy who drank his own full spitter (20oz Mountain Dew bottle) for a measly $10.00! It was during a road trip, and I've never seen anything so horrifying... the deep, slow gurgling sound as he powered that thing down... uuughhh! I'll never be able to forget it!

Someone please get us off topic!

YEAH. WOW. thanks for all the responses on the topic guys. but yeah i found out why we lost it and it doesnt make to much sense to me. OH yeah and on that topic of chew. I had a friend who wanted to quit chewing and this is the only way he thought that would make him quit. He put an entire can of chew in his mouth "around the world" and every thing he spitted out he spit in a can and after he took out the chew he drank the can. Wow was that amazing never seen anyone puke more then him but to this day he has never chewed.

WOW Great topic. GO CATS

If you have to spit that much, you shouldn't be chewing it anyway. I don't spit, but I do put the used chew in an emory chew can. It sux when ya wake up in the morning and reach for your can and take a chew, and its an old can of used chew.Yuck

or not. The NFR runs from Dec. 1-10th

 I didn't dredge it up but I was stupid enough to not look at the date of the original thread before I posted!

My bad. Somehow my android got switched to bring up threads I participated in. I posted and then realized what happened. No need to be rude about it though kmax. Sorry to make a mistake that obviously ruined your day.

Give me a break man, there was nothing rude about that. I simply made a comment regarding the fact that it was a 7 year old thread, because obviously others didn't notice it. Next time I will include a smiley for you.

Sorry kmax. I read what I wrote and I was rude. I'm going though a ton of crap with my old lady taking off a couple weeks ago. I've been taking sh!t out on anyone I talk to. Celebrating my b-day by myself sux. From now on, I'll read what I type before I post.
