Day ends early for Sean. Didn't make the top 9 to advance.

Great career for him. Msu has ton of legendary hammer throwers and he is right up there with the best of them

Absolutely. Fun to see MSU represented here.
Soratos coming up in about an hour and a half.

boy, talk about just barely getting in....... i was surprised he ran that kind of race. In the interview before the race he talked about needing to run smart... i dont know, maybe he did. im not a runner.

I'm not really sure what the strategy is for a semifinal like that. They came in knowing that the first heat ran a really slow, clustered race, so they knew that pushing the pace would allow all of them a better chance to advance. I couldn't tell if he ran out of gas at the end or if he was coasting a bit to save some legs for the finals, and perhaps saved a bit too much (and almost risked getting passed by a few more at the end). It will be interesting (and very fun -- I love watching the distance races) to see how his kick compares for the finals, as we know that everybody will be leaving everything on the track for that one.

I realize he didn't finish well, but he qualified easily. He broke his school record time. I expect a top five finish in the final today with a shot at winning it.

What a sweet intro on ESPN to the 1500. It was almost all about "Soratos" and "Montana State" and "Bobcats."

But he finishes 7th. Slow race. Announcers were puzzled that he didn't pull out earlier.

I was surprised with the strategy. A very slow pace and I guess he thought he could out kick the field. Was worried about him getting boxed in.
A darn fine career.....

He may not have finished as high as he, and everyone, was wanting, but he sure represented MSU well. Leading into the commercial ESPN highlighted Soratos and mentioned Montana State and the Bobcats, then after the break they had a recorded studio interview with him. They highlighted him over all the other competitors with the Bobcat logo, etc on the screen. That was some of the best TV exposure MSU has ever had. I have to think quite a few people were tuned in since it was on the main ESPN channel during a time of day with a lot of people watching TV. I don't recall ever seeing anyone from MSU or any BSC school highlighted to that extent on national TV. I think people watching will remember him more than the winner.
