I know. Wrong thread, but so few people go to the Track thread, so I thought this was worthy of being here until a mod moves it.

I think MSU’s got the top female HJ and top male Mile (Duncan Hamilton) in the ncaa so far this year. Probably missing something.

I heard Derrick Olson set a new MSU record in the 60 yard hurdles.

Our Track and Field program is so impressive. Every year they have several top athletes. How many milers have we had be number 1 or 2 in the country. We had the best woman's Pole Vaulter in the NCAA 3 or 4 years in a row. We always have good Decathletes and good throwers. It never ends. Not sure how they do it but it is impressive.

And it seems to be improving. Being in the same conference as NAU doesn't hurt, nor does having some elevation along with very good indoor facilities. Not many places at higher elevations also have great indoor facilities. Plus, as I've said over and over, Montana athletes are relatively competitive on a national scale in most events. Coaching is top notch, and they're importing some great athletes as well. I'll also add this: the football team's success in the last decade-plus has meant more funding from the track team selling 50/50 tickets. I'm not sure if that revenue really moves the needle all that much but it sure can't hurt!
