Cool story on Tayla Moeykens the top ranked barrel racer in college rodeo.

MSU appears to be out of it for the team titles but has a shot in steer wrestling and calf roping.

Last night, Monte Bailey had a good ride in saddle bronc and looks to make the short round. Cole Gerhardt, who came in as a top bareback rider, logged his second no time of the rodeo. Last night, his ride was him just hanging on for dear life on Uptown Girl. Trav Johnson clocked a 4.8 in steer wrestling and will go to the finals.

Hoping to see a good run from Tayla Moeykens tonight in the barrels. She’s our best chance for a title.

Only saw three Bobcats in last night’s live performance. A couple good runs from UM Western and MSU Northern cowboys and cowgirls.

I thought Moeykens knocked over a barrel in the second go but apparently not. She’s second going into today’s short go. She’s only 0.06 seconds behind the leader.

I don’t think Bailey made short go. Jensen and Perry tied for sixth in tie-down roping through the three go rounds and are in short go. Johnson and Whitman 4-5 in bulldogging. So they’re in.

Women in fifth place, men in 17th.

Must have read the round results instead of aggregate on Bailey. Hard to see the board from my seats.

Men were 2nd coming into this week. Wheels fell off the wagon.

Tayla was great last night.

Seeing a lot of Montana kids at other schools, including Harley Meged from Miles City — sister of Haven Meged and sister-in-law of Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, both pro champs.

Men finish 11th. Women finish 4th.

Tayla Moeykens finishes 2nd to Taycie Mathews in the barrels for the second year in a row. Matthews qualified for NFR last year, so no surprise that it was going to be tough. Tayla, however, is presently ranked 35th in the world standings, ahead of Matthews. Tayla has made over $22k in pro events so far this year. It takes about $100k to make it to NFR.
