Bobcats in Pro Rodeo
Tayla Moeykens was 10th in round 1 and 5th in round 2 at the 2024 Reno Rodeo on Tuesday. She is currently 7th in the average at the halfway point of the preliminary rounds. The top 12 advance to the short round on Saturday.
She easily won the Belt Rodeo a week ago Sunday, the day after taking 2nd at the CNFR. Over this past weekend, she placed third at the Strawberry Days Rodeo in Utah. She was not in the money in two other Rodeos last weekend in Utah and Wyoming.
As of June 24, she ranks 33rd in the barrel racing world standings.

Moeykens finishes 16th in the average in Reno and out of Saturday’s short round. No money, but a great performance nonetheless. Won’t be too long we should be seeing her in Vegas in December.nevadacat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 6:16 amTayla Moeykens was 10th in round 1 and 5th in round 2 at the 2024 Reno Rodeo on Tuesday. A lot of rodeos in Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota next week. She’s on the July 4 slack daysheet for Livingston, but looks like there are over 100 racers in that rodeo.

Re: Bobcats in Pro Rodeo
It's the centennial celebration for the Livingston Roundup, so I'm not surprised there's over 100 ladies on the list. Assuming it will be a bigger than normal purse... Normally the Roundup is only the nights of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th with slack on the afternoon of the 1st. This year they're having a full night event on the 1st as well, so slack must be on the 30th, I guess. Tried to get tickets a couple weeks ago and every night said it was sold out online, so I scrapped going. Will go next year, hopefully tickets won't be in such high demand...nevadacat wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 6:32 amMoeykens finishes 16th in the average in Reno and out of Saturday’s short round. Re: Bobcats in Pro Rodeo
Quick update on our college rodeo champ, Tayla Moeykens from Three Forks.
Tayla finished 16th in the world! (Top 15 go to National Finals.) She won $104,740 this season in 68 rodeos, missing NFR by about $6,500.
She finished in the top five (* indicates won) in: *Great Falls, *Rapid City (two rodeos), *Coulee City WA, Scottsdale, Tonasket WA, *Belt, Moab UT, Pleasant Grove UT, *Belle Fourche SD, Basin City WA, Bigfork (two rodeos), NFR Open in Colorado Springs, Cheyenne WY, *Lewistown, Helena, Heber City UT, Preston ID, Hermiston OR, Bozeman, Baker, *Circle, Billings, Filer ID, Plains, *Dillon, *Colfax WA, Pendleton OR, Othello WA, Mandan ND, Bakersfield, Poway CA, and San Bernardino.
I looked at the top 50 barrel racers in the world. The top money winner made over $204k; number fifty made $37k. When looking at money won per rodeo, Tayla was 14th at $1,540 per rodeo. Of the 15 NFR qualifiers, 9 raced in more rodeos than Tayla, and the top two in the world only raced in 2-3 fewer.
We have a future NFR star here, folks!
