Saipan/Guam/Marianas Cat/griz Sat. Party

Post by DaBobcats » Thu Nov 08, 2007 8:23 am

This is a real shot in the dark here but does anyone living in Saipan or Guam gonna watch the game or does anyone know how to even GET the game out here? Don't think BSTV works out here...

Please help... haven't missed a Cat/griz game since I was like 2 and don't plan on starting now

Da,

The game will be part of ESPN's GamePlan package, so if you know a sports bar that has that, you should be golden. However, I don't think ESPN will get to the Griz/cat game until 1:00pm (MST) when another game ends.

Cool! I've considered that from time to time. I'm a high school science and social studies teacher in California. How is it teaching there? Which island? Saipan, Tinian or Guam?

I'm on Saipan. It is an interesting place for sure. I hear bad things about Guam, schools there are kind of a zoo. They said that about here but I think it has more to do with teachers with no classroom management skills than bad kids.
I work in the Jr. High, love all my kids and have not had a single discipline problem yet.

That's neat. It's quite a change from Montana to Saipan!

As a history teacher I've taught about the World War II battle there. Are there remnants of that conflict on the island?

yea lots of bullets still laying around, even have a few tanks still sitting off shore just rusting in the water, pretty dramatic. But this place is very poor, some of the kids live like 20 to a single room house, with no running water and catch fish for dinner at night. Also, I can't think of another place with more diversity anywhere in America. Philippine, Chamorro, Carolinian, Palaoan, Chukeese (sp? on any of those) Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and of course the Honky teachers (me!).
beach life is good though bro

I ask because I once considered doing what you're doing, so in a way I'm trying to see if I would have liked it!

Do you have enough materials and books in the school?

Yes. Check www.montanagrizzlies.com late in the week of the game and they'll have the cooridinates posted.

I've been on Saipan. Beautiful island.

yes we have the materials but im in language arts so we get the new stuff first. It depends on the school too, Southern High has flat screens in every room, wireless, computers, all the technology you want. We are slowly getting it in. Internet on island is spotty at best.
Do you golf?
If you do, there is no place in the world better or cheaper than here. 30 bucks for 18 plus a cart off the beach. can't beat it

I've been known to swing at golf balls from time to time. Sounds great to me - golfing alongside the Pacific!
