Anybody want to hire Sociology grad? Job market is tough, and all I hear is the word "network" so I figure I might throw my pole into bobcatnation to see if I get any bites!

LBC let me know how this one turns out. I too will be a sociology grad soon, and while I still have the same interests, I'm beginning to worry that I maybe should have switched majors three times instead of just 2! #-o

You should have switched, and I wish someone told me that sooner! I would switched but I had some extenuating circumstances I had to deal with. I'm happy I graduated, but it all seems for nothing because it's such a broad degree. Anything in federal, state or local government is great except most are conducting hiring freezes. Sign on the times I suppose, most of the jobs down here that have anything to do with a behavioral science direction suck or have nothing going on. Time to redirect my career I think, maybe I'll move back to MT and become a professional bum.

well the good news is that it's not at all uncommon for someone to get a degree in one field, and begin a career in a completely different field so you have that going for you. i have seen that sinply having your degree is a great step toward landing a job that pays well so don't give up. for me, sociology is really the only thing that i am interested in so changing majors yet again really wasn't appealing to me. but it seems that the more i read, and now listening to your story i may be in for a treay when it comes time to search for a job. best of luck to ya and let me know if anything comes about.
