Alumni in San Francisco area

Post by SonomaCat » Mon Sep 13, 2004 3:35 pm

...so I'll try it as well.

Are there any Bay Area based Bobcat fans out there that I don't already know (I'm Brad Bergum)? When I have a free weekend, I need to find a bar that has the Bobcat games. If you know of any that do already, or if you want me to contact you when I find them, let me know.

Then, of course, we will all see each other at Ricky's for Cat/Griz.

So, I guess you and BearBAC are through? I saw it in the tabloids but I hoped it wasn't true. I'll keep your gift for myself then.

This is becoming www.bobcatmatch.com

Yeah, that just didn't work out -- I have to learn once and for all that it's not a good idea to hook up with Griz posters who live in group homes. It's embarassing when we are seen in public and his shirt is stained with Gerber carrots from lunch.

And, for those of you just tuning in, yes, this is an attempt at a joke on both our parts.

I was so excited when I saw a hit on this thead, too. I thought that maybe I found someone to go see a game with, but it was just our local Seinfeld. Your post about the high scoring games really cracked me up, by the way. Good stuff.

And apologies to those people who do actually live in group homes -- that was kind of mean of me to compare them to the subject the way I did. They are doing the best they can with what they are given, and he is doing the exact opposite. Sincere apologies for that unfortunate attempt at humor.

Local Seinfeld? Now, that just might be the best compliment ever!

New to the site...

Post by DaBeav » Wed Sep 21, 2005 8:10 pm

After weeks of reading posts, I've decided to join in. I'm currently in San Francisco, appauled by last week's Cal Poly showing. BayAreaCat - went to San Rafael last year for Cat-Griz...a bit of a disappointment (not only the game). Planning on heading to San Leandro this year with some out of state honorary Bobcats. Is there anywhere in the Bay Area that shows other games? Sac State game? PSU?

I've never been to the San Rafael party, but I have heard from other people that it's not huge. The San Leandro party is a big deal -- a couple hundred people there every year.

I'm haven't honestly done any research on finding SF bars that carry the MSU games. I imagine if we had a group of people who would show up for the games, we could certainly find some sports bar that would find the game feed for us. The games that are on Altitude would be really easy to find, but the ones on the MT network would require a bit more research (and an old-fashioned dish).

Let me know if you are interested in rallying a group, and I would be happy to make some calls.

BAC - San Leandro it is. Buddies from Vacaville, Denver, and Atlanta coming to get loud and stupid. What's the place like? Younger crowd, I hope. San Rafael was a bit AARP. This is the wrong post, I know, but someone had been asking about places in Atlanta to go for satellite parties. Dare I say, I had one the the best Cat-Griz Saturdays of my life down there. Southerners can't sing the fight song for s*%#, but the love of college football is infectious.

The San Leandro party is about 50/50 younger/older with the over/under age being about 35 (so I am right on the edge, I guess). There are a lot of older alums in the area, and they come out and support the program pretty well. They generally aren't really rowdy parties, but then, maybe you just need to provide the spark to get the party going. The fact that the game starts before noon, and everybody has to drive so far, probably doesn't help too much.

I'll actually be in Bozeman for the game this year, so I won't be attending the party this time around.
