Fascinating commentary; however, I've looked at my red-blue county maps of the U.S. so many times since the election, talked with my students over and over and made them read Zell Miller's latest book about the democratic party no longer representing his beliefs---anyway...love our leadership in Montana this year. Dem Gov who chose a Rep Lt. Gov...

What an a$$hole thing to say Velo. He's a Scoop Jackson, old-school Democrat who has nothing in common with the Dems of today. His line of thinking doesn't shore up with yours, so you resort to such an asinine statement. Very typical of liberals like yourself to pull the elitist card.velochat wrote:I didn't think Zell Miller could read, let alone write. Deep down, he wants to bring back slavery.

I actually thought his speach was very good - strong, directed, supported with facts, and right on target. Other than his wild eyes (they kinda creeped me out) he was a hoot.
liveloyalsigmsu: I think you really hit the nail there. There has been a real change in the Democratic (and Republican for that matter) Party over the years and his way of thinking just doesn't match up that well with today's liberals. Can you picture a Democrat giving a speach today with the text of JFK's "ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country...."? Doesn't match up very well.

WYCAT.....Both parties as they stand now, if compared to the past, are nothing but polarized and outside of professional lip service, don't get much done. The Dems and Repubs of yesteryear probably frown on their respective parties of today.WYCAT wrote:I actually thought his speach was very good - strong, directed, supported with facts, and right on target. What's sad is that one would be ignorant enough to believe that someone would support bringing slavery back. Something tells me that even that poster wasn't being tongue-in-cheek either!WYCAT wrote:I actually thought his speach was very good - strong, directed, supported with facts, and right on target. I may have commited a "bill o'reilly" by making the slavery comment. All I know about Zell is that he lost it at the convention and lost any credibility as a writer as well.
Racism is alive and well in the US, though. Over a thousand of us marched to show solidarity against white supremecists in downtown Bozeman just a week ago.

Good for you.....would you like a cookie? Since you were marching, why didn't you just show solidarity and march against racism across the spectrum itself.velochat wrote:I may have commited a "bill o'reilly" by making the slavery comment. You didn't commit a "Bill O'Reilly"......you simply put your foot in your mouth but then when you talk politics Velo, what's new?
As for Zell Miller, are you just following suit with the rest of your liberal crowd and eating up the words of Queen Maureen Dowd, Arianna Huffinington, or Al Franken? Have you even read anything written by Zell Miller or have you already casted him as a redneck racist? Nevermind, you already did.......
