Election of '08

Post by raincat » Mon Mar 07, 2005 5:55 pm

Up on the Athletic Board there is a discussion about females getting head coaching jobs for men's teams. While it may be a while before we see that take place above the NAIA level, what about the next Presidental election? How about Hillary vs. Condi? Wouldn't that be an all-time pi$$er??!!?? An African-American, conservative Republican female vs. a Northern European, liberal Democrat female from New York via Arkansas. Pink and chartruse states anyone? I LOVE AMERICA!!!

How about one is brilliant and is driven and the other one drove our former Commander in Chief to the point where he would up with an addiction...

How about the election of 2006? Hilary has an uphill battle ahead of her. If she loses her senate seat she is out of politics... I wouldn't cry too much with that outcome.

I would like to see Giuliani make a run as well. A moderate Republican in the White House would be a much-needed change of pace. I'd also be interested in hearing more of his positions on various issues. His only problem might be that he's not holy roller enough to get the nomination.

That and from all I have heard and read I don't think he is really interested in running. I think the cancer scare he went through may have changed what he considers important as well. I agree though, the initial impression he gives is favorable and I think a lot of people like what they see.

Are we talking about the Senate Race or Presidential Race? Giuliani would do VERY well running for Senator. You certainly don't need to be a "Holy Roller" to win an election in New York (Hilary Clinton!). I don't think Giuliani would really have enough support for a Presidential bid. I think that McCain will be the Republican Candidate in 2008.

Have to agree with mquast on that.....I think McCain can reach over to the otherside he is about as liberal a republican as there is......however it seems the one who runs for President only wins if he has been a Governor.....

"liberal republican" is almost an oximoron today. Not many years ago liberals and conservatives were plentiful in both parties. New York Republican governor, Nelson Rockefeller was viewed as very liberal. He died...or perished in a very interesting way. He was on top of his secretary on top of his desk when his heart failed...if you get the picture. Makes President Clinton look like Little Bo Peep.
