Earthquake ?
I was showing the boys where Haiti is on the map this morning I began to wonder why there's nothing in the news about the Dominican Republic, which is part of the same island, or Cuba which is very near. I'm assuming since it's not being mentioned that the level of damage is less there. But if that's true, wouldn't they able to fly supplies and aid into the Dominican Republic to get to Haiti from there? I know nothing of that area.

Re: Earthquake ?
What I heard is that was is usually a 6 hour drive to the DR is now a 12+ hour drive due to all the damage to the roads, etc.

Re: Earthquake ?
I think Wet is correct. We vacationed in DR once, and getting around the island is not easy. And it's a larger island than you'd imagine. I'd guess that Santa Domingo is probably 300 miles away from Port-au-Prince, and one must go over pretty rugged mountains on bad roads to make the trip. Still, I would think that if the P-a-P airport continues to be overwhelmed, that will probably begin to occur.
We're all here 'cause we ain't all there.

Re: Earthquake ?
Thanks guys! And I finally did hear some info about it this morning, saw a long old caravan of supplies making the drive.
GinW that's what I was wondering, if it was a bigger island than I was guessing.
