Arena football in Bozeman?

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Tue Aug 23, 2005 10:17 pm

Any of you guys seen on the news or read in the paper about this guy trying to get an Arena Football team in the Valley Ice Garden? I saw little blurb on the news tonight. Apparantly it's the same league as the Billings Arena team? I don't know much more than that.

First off-the Ice Garden ceiling isn't terribly high-not sure how kicking, and even throwning the football is going to work.

Every so often somebody wants to make minor league sports go in Bozeman. Lots of people want a Pioneer League baseball team (that would be sort of cool). And of course we have the Ice Dogs hockey team-not pro, but a franchise of sorts none the less.

I'm a little greedy I guess. I want everybody in Gallatin Valley's loyalties to be with MSU athletics. Other minor league sports just dillute our fanbase.

Why don't these minor leaguers look to the Flathead? There's nothing going on sportswise up there other than the high schools. I would think a Jr. A Hockey team or a minor league baseball team, or maybe even an Arena football team would really take off up there. Leave Bozeman to the Bobcats!

While I somewhat agree that I would like everyone involved with the Cats, I would LOVE an arena team here. Have you ever watched it? It is an absolute blast and the small, close confines of the Ice Garden could make it even more fun for the fans.

They don't even start playing until the end of March so it really doesn't interfere with any of the big Bobcat sports(with my apologies to Mike C. and all of the spring sports). What a great way to get a football fix in the spring and early summer! If anything that would make me even more ready for Bobcat football!

Could you imagine how many bobcat football players could be persuaded to play on that team? I think an arena team would be a powerhouse if they recruited the seniors from the MSU football team.
