Question regarding wireless routers.....

Post by RickRund » Tue Jun 18, 2013 11:11 am

I have a 2Wire 2701HG-B and was curious how to find out as to whether it is a DOCSIS 1.1/DOCSIS 2/ DOCSIS 3.....It seems to give us fits from time to time, with connectivity.....I have heard that 1.1 is NOT reliable.
You helped me out with my anti-virus question so here is another.
Thanks.

DOCSIS 1.1 was developed like 15 years ago so I doubt it's that old standard. Also, DOCSIS just refers to modem equipment (not routers). If your router is dropping connections I'd call whoever your cable provider is that's providing it for you. You could go into the wireless router settings and check to see if the firmware is up to date but I'd see if your provider could just provide you with a new one as well.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

What exactly do you mean by dropping connections?
No internet? Can it ping other equpipment on your network?
Do you have a destop hardwired to the router? If so, what is it's state during the "dropped connection"?
