You can now go to: http://mt.gov/ to vote for the quarter you want. You can only vote once.

I went to this site to vote for the quarter but there was no bobcat logo choice? What gives? So I voted for the buffalo skull. Since I am from eastern Montana it is the only one that really speaks to me. I have never seen an elk. East side are you wit me?!

No I am not kidding! I really like the skull.go_catz! wrote:You're kidding, right?Hello Kitty wrote: I have never seen an elk.
I actually like them all except the one with the skull. My only question is, where is the one with a trout on it?
The scenery one is lame because it is too ambiguous. It could be a number of states.
The Montana outline is kind of boring
The elk does not represent Montana for me being from the east
That leaves the skull.
All in my opinion.

i voted for the skull, the elk just made me crave swiss steak -yummy!
the others didn't thrill me, although as a transplant Montanan, not a "native", i don't know if i really should have a vote in what represents MT best. So I asked mom, she liked the skull, so I voted for her

I voted for the elk because I was born in Glasgow and worked near there last year and I plan to shoot a huge bull on one of BACs old neighbors this fall
Went down into the breaks last week just to watch some of them, catch a few of the big rainbows in our "secret" potholes and drove over a few old skulls. Guess I'm too much of a traditionalist--couldn't vote for either one with "Big Sky Country" because we're the Treasure State

I heard from somebody that the elk was actually a European species, not the wapiti found here in Montana. I kind of liked the state outline one, but I noticed I was only one of a few. It's hard to find a single representation for a state like Montana. The buffalo skull isn't bad and it's a decent symbol for Montana.

IMO - I don't think any of the designs truly captures an identity for MT. Let's face it - alot of states have elk, alot of states have mountains and plains, and rivers, and the skull of a dead animal just doesn't excite me. With so many things unique to our state or rare in others (Glacier Park, Custer Battlefield, gold mining days, dinosaur finds, etc.), I really find the choices to be lame and poorly researched. How about an Evil Knievel coin?!

Here is my take. You are right other states have elk, bison skulls, mountains, etc. So why not select the coin that shows the landscape inside the state outline? That shows Montana the best in my mind. A quarter doesn't allow you to get to creative, so lets all vote for the Montana outline quarter.

That pretty much sums up my take as well, that was the one I voted for when Rebecca originally posted this, but the skull one would be fine too mainly as someone said I relate that to Montana because of the bicentennial license plates.rtb wrote:Here is my take. I was thinking more along the lines of the Vigilantes (3-7-77; that is still printed on our Highway Patrolmen badges), or Pompey's Pillar - the only physical piece of evidence from Lewis & Clark's trek westward. Possibly even a T-Rex - if I'm not mistaken, more T-Rex remains have been found in Montana than anywhere else in the world. Also very popular with the kids being it's a dinosaur. Or even Going-To-The-Sun Road from Glacier Park - an engineering miracle considering the time in which it was constructed. These are all uniquely Montana and could be done on a quarter rather easily. If you go back and look at some of the other quarters, there are a few that are wonderfully done.

I agree with this point. To steal a line from someone else on egriz (yeah, I know), many people in America have no idea where Montana is, or what it looks like. This quarter would give them both a geographic representation, and show what the state looks like.rtb wrote:Here is my take.
