Yep, if that is a flagship then send in the lifeboats, the Coast Guard to rescue any survivors.

Flagship university definition:GRIZFNZ wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:24 pmPretty simple, during their creation MSU was designated as the “Land Grant” Institution and UM the “Flagship” Institution.John K wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:25 pmAnd this was the very first paragraph/sentence in the story:
Alleging a double standard based on gender, Shannon Schweyen, former head coach for women’s basketball at the University of Montana, is suing the flagship for sex discrimination and asking for a reinstatement — or back pay and front pay for lost compensation.
UM is still referring to itself as "the flagship"....flagship of what? Dumpster fires, s**t storms, train wrecks? Surely they don't really believe that they're still the flagship university in Montana, do they? Are they really that delusional over there in Missoula?
It seems odd that they would have cited players entering the transfer portal as the reason for her dismissal. It seems like her dismal, sub .500 record as the head coach of a program that had dominated the BSC for decades under Selvig, would have been adequate cause to terminate her.
Also interesting to see that Devlan Geddes is one of her attorneys. Didn't he play football for the Cats back in the 90's?
The College Board, for example, defines flagship universities as the best-known institutions in the state, noting that they were generally the first to be established and are frequently the largest and most selective, as well as the most research-intensive public universities.
MSU is just as if not more well known.
MSU and um were established at the same time.
MSU opened two years before UM.
MSU is larger.
MSU is just as if not more selective.
MSU is more research intensive.
Therefore MSU is Montana’s flagship university.

The story to me is some "influencer", which is a travesty in itself, from Washington being "triggered" so he can have social media content. That is a sad reflection on what people do instead of being productive.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 10:13 pmWe have a candidate for "Most 2022 Article of the Year".wbtfg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:37 pmThe drama continues.

Re: More UM Drama
Some people just wake up every day looking to get angry at something. But that's modern society, there is always a magnifying glass and any day it could hover over you. My parents always told me what really matters is what you do when no one is looking, and that's more important than ever in today's America. This professor could have benefited from living his life like that.rivercat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 11:43 amThe story to me is some "influencer", which is a travesty in itself, from Washington being "triggered" so he can have social media content. At the same time, people just get mad at the messenger and ignore the message. This does beg the question - what level of off-duty behavior is acceptable for a public employee at an institution of higher learning? Seems people would rather discuss the culture of social media than the "incident" itself.

The problem is the "incident" was covered pretty extensively last Fall. This TikTok guy didn't do any investigation. Just posted it months after it happened and was covered so he could have social media content.CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 10:45 amSome people just wake up every day looking to get angry at something. I make no judgement on the professor one way or another. I don't care enough to really look into it.

Congrats! Looks like your school is following in the footsteps of MSU! MSU has been an R1 recognized research university for a couple years.
