I expect that any “non-commercial” vehicle (such as SUV and pickups) will considered “passenger or light duty”. Only commercial vehicles like semi trucks, dump trucks or delivery vans will be exempt.wapiti wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 11:22 amFrom the article:
The ban would apply to “publicly owned and privately owned passenger and light duty vehicles
Everyone will buy Pickups and large SUVs.
I wonder how passenger and light duty vehicles is defined???
This bill is going to affect the poor the most!!!! I 'll guess that the liberal politicians who voted for this own a heavy duty vehicle for most of their daily commuting.

Yep, a classic out of touch, Marie Antoinette move. "Let them eat cake!" The whole world would benefit if a few of these fatcats - in both Washingtons - met their fate with a guillotine...wapiti wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 11:22 amFrom the article:

A little off the subject but just saw a report that beef is expected to rise 20%, pork 20% and chicken 70% in near future. Now we can say let them eat tofu...

Please note that it is no longer called the Inflation Reduction Act. Within hours of passing, it was being rebranded by the admin as the greatest climate and healthcare reform bill ever passed.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 10:51 amThe Inflation Reduction Act appears to be working as designed.

Then Ford and GM both come out and say it had nothing to do with the IRA. Like anyone would believe them. Both just typical American big businesses taking advantage of the system. Just read the link to see how unconvincing they are with their thinly veiled excuse. Expect other industries to follow suit. If you see anything please link it here. Should be interesting to see how big oil and big pharma use this to their advantage.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 10:51 amThe Inflation Reduction Act appears to be working as designed.

Re: EV battery replacement
Don’t want to muddy the waters, but this EV rebate was very poorly conceived by the admin. The rebate applies to any EV manufactured in North America - including Canada and Mexico. Canada PM Trudeau issued a statement within hours of the bill saying how this such a big deal for their burgeoning EV manufacturers in CANADA. So frustrating that our government is handing out incentives that actually help manufacturers across the border in their rush to push this EV agenda. They could have easily limited the incentive to only US manufacturers which would have benefitted American workers.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 10:54 amThen Ford and GM both come out and say it had nothing to do with the IRA. Predicting 375 million (40 million more than the current USA population) people globally will need to find different lines of work by 2030 just due to automation alone.
