Two sports facts that just bug me for some weird reason: A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993 and a Frenchman hasn't won the Tour de France since 1985...I'm always happy when the French get their stage win at least. The Tour means so much to them.catsrback76 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 11:59 pmDoesn’t compare obviously to the Miracle in Missoula and the Tucker Yates hit…but it’s something!BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 9:14 pmFrench guy winning on Mont Ventoux-he'll never have to buy a beer (or glass of wine) in France for the rest of his life!Common Cat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:17 pmGreat stage. Jonas is coming into shape. Does Tadej have a "bad day" in him? Great team win for Soudal today.![]()

A Canadian team had their shot this year and "Coug'd It", such is life...BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 9:35 amTwo sports facts that just bug me for some weird reason: A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993 and a Frenchman hasn't won the Tour de France since 1985...I'm always happy when the French get their stage win at least. Re: Tour De France 2025
One more mountain top finish with several categorized climbs thrown in, BUT, this tour is won! I fully expected Jonas to attack early and often with Visma, and while the team played a great tactical game, they didn’t have the legs to break Pogacar. In fact, I felt that Jonas was happy to take 2nd on the stage and 2nd in the Tour. Tomorrow is his last chance to win…but I don’t think he has the fire this year. He’s done great…but it’s not the best that he needed to do to win this year.

Fun tour. I liked how they changed the final stage. I think we are witnessing greatness with Tadej. Super happy for Wout to get the stage win.

Crazy to see the yellow jersey going for it in the rain on cobbles when he has it in the bag. He still had to cross the finish line. I can't imagine what his team car was saying. But good for us-that really lit up the stage. Wout is already a legend in my mind, but this win really cemented it.
This thread was great fun. Thanks for starting it. Most of y'all have probably already seen this, but in case you haven't, this documentary on the 1976 Paris-Roubaix is absolutely fantastic. Enjoy:
