You can quit worrying, we got the warning this morning. Exposed skin can freeze in minutes.

But....you have to give them a bit of a break. During our New Years storm that had worse driving conditions than most old timers remember they put some 12' snow baracades across a couple roads to block them off. The policeman who was relating the story said someone asked them why they did such an extreme thing and he said it's the only way to keep people from trying to drive around a blockade. But they still had someone TRY TO DRIVE OVER THE 12' SNOWPILE ROADBLOCK!!

So while the rest of us sane people listen and roll our eyes, there's some idiot out there who thinks it's probably OK to drive 84 down a closed interstate (yes he got ticketed)

Chester SURVIVED!!!! he went out and braved the Snownami last night shaking his fist and yelling toward sky ala Captain Dan in Forrest Gump. Chester won... only about 8" of the forecasted 15"+ hit the ground.
The build-up and subsequent let down rivaled that of Y2K.

Good to hear. With all the energy you saved you can come help me dig out after our next storm of 10"+. We get about 5 a year. By the way, Monday it was minus 27 on my drive to work.

Oh yes -as long as we're comparing sizes (or whatever) it was -34°F this morning when I left the cabin. Sure hope the propane supply guy makes it back before another snow storm hits. (and I know, this 34 below stuff pales when we compare to the hi-line guys)

GO CATS !

Yeah, when I was in Wichita, KS, I couldn't believe how the place just shut down due to 6 inches of snow... I'd be out driving around like normal, and there would be no one out, and if they were, they were just creeping along. Granted, I have a F-250 4x4, but still. Quite odd to me.

I went to grad school at the University of Kentucky. They once cancelled school because it might snow. Seriously. For an entire week. The excuse was, "yeah but we don't have the equipment to deal with it." ... Yeah. Well. I drive a sedan with front wheel drive and all weather tires. Our street (in a newer subdivision) is usually one of the last to get plowed. Like a week after it snows. I get pissed, but that's just how we do things around here...

I still laugh remembering how some folks were putting their chains on out in western Washington - somewhere between Seattle and Aberdeen - when there was probably about 1/2 inch of snow on the road. They were jacking the cars up and taking the tires off to put the chains on.....Maybe it is just in MT and ND that we don't have to remove the tires to put on chains.

Here in Bozeman we had a whiteout last night, drifting snow, slick roads, and a lot of snow in the driveway. You know what we did?? We shoveled it and went to work!! :D

Well I was pretty upset that someone from the government wasn't shoveling me out and delivering hot food to my door last night and I almost called the newspaper, but instead I cracked open a cold one and dreamed about taking a powder day.

we got about 8 additional inches on saturday, so we dig ourselves out only to have those government effers plow us right back in the next day. sure their streets are nice and clear but we have about a foot of ice/slush at the bottom of our driveways :hot:

And quite a powder day it was!! Worst part was driving home, but the roads were pretty good once you got east of Livingston, although I had heard reports that the road was closed at Springdale for awhile.
