Damn I am getting old. I still remember LIttle Johns, the Oaks, sticking to the carpet at St George and the Dragon. The Gold Rush, Willies, Having a keg burger and beer at the Knotty Keg.

Better call it by the correct name...the "Bar"muda triangle. Once you went in, it was dang near impossible to leave.Bobcat Jim wrote:Back in my day it was the magic triangle. Molly Brown, Haufbrau, and the Scoop. Molly Brown was my favorite, where the now president of the Quarterback Club Larry Aasheim would bring pitchers to you for $1.35 if I remember right.

Oh yeah, you are right. "Bar"muds triangle was the name. Memory not the same 45 years later.tdub wrote:Better call it by the correct name...the "Bar"muda triangle. Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Just fondly remembering dollar pitchers at the George. I know this dates me, but when you are a geezer all of your memories date you.

The crowd there was always "odd", perhaps your perspective has changed.....CatBlitz wrote:That place just creeps me out anymore. Decent music sometimes but the crowd is just...odd...GRIZFNZ wrote:How about The Filling Station....is it a thing of the past?

Little Johns is mixers. I loved going there when I was in high school in Manhattan and watching the band Wooden Nickel. Staceys in Gateway was always fun too.

Agree with CatBlitz, though not necessarily about age... just never felt comfortable at the Filler. I'd go once in awhile cuz they did indeed have cool bands (only place in town to catch a punk show), but man... I felt dirty, and out of place in there.CatBlitz wrote:I'm still just not old enough...Rich K wrote:The crowd there was always "odd", perhaps your perspective has changed.....CatBlitz wrote:That place just creeps me out anymore. Speaking of out of place, gocats brought up Staceys. Went in there with a group of college buds, I've never felt so out of place walking into a bar as I did in there. Felt like Billy Crystal in City Slickers, and I'm from Montana.
The Molly was my place of choice. Also spent a lot of time at the ol' Sleagion (Legion). And the Hideaway.

The Legion just isn't the same anymore unfortunately. I usually end up going to the Crystal or the Molly.CelticCat wrote:Agree with CatBlitz, though not necessarily about age... just never felt comfortable at the Filler. Wasn't there a lounge in the mall at one point in the early 90's called Matilda Bay or something similar?

Filling station is still there, drive by it every time I am in Bozeman. Is the Friendly Tavern still in Belgrade? And for us geezers who can forget dime beers at the George.

I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

I work as an attorney so that I can afford good scotch, which helps me to forget that I work as an attorney.

Re: Bars in Bozeman
Mixers is really the only country bar left in Bozeman...Stacey's is good, but it's in Gateway.
The bars downtown are full of preppy douches who look to start fights at any opportunity, and rarely do any of those places play live music anymore.
