Hellgate VS. Bozeman

On Friday nite, the Hellgate Knights boys basketball team travels to Bozeman for a highly anticipated non-conference game. The Knights have won their last four after a shaky early start. Bozeman has been dominating early and is ranked number 1. Although Bozeman High comes into the game with the better record, my money is on Hellgate. With the big 3 of Charlie Cox, Trevor Morris, and Jack McGillis playing their best basketball lately, I don't think Bozeman will be able to hang with them. Mike Cole is a great coach, but I think the knights have too much talent. Does anyone disagree or agree?? Regardless of Friday's outcome, I'm sure these two teams will meet at State in Billings.

Yeah, I have family that plays for Capital High School and I went to that game. Capital beat Hellgate in every aspect of the game and I do not know if Capital is all that great. I know that Hellgate has some talent, but Hellgate looked to be very weak that evening, so unless they have improved imensely, my money is on Bozeman High.

I'd never bet against Mike Cole at home when he has a better than average team. That being the case, I'll take Bozeman over Hellgate.

"suckitgriz" are you gonna be at the game? I hope to see you there, maybe we can have some drinks after the game as we did at the PressBox after Cat-Griz. My money is on Hellgate though! You Cats' need to check out that McGillis kid. Hope to see you there, man. I will come say hello.

Hellgate does seem to be playing a lot better than they were before X-mas. However, Bozeman's Weidenaar might be the most underrated player in the state, and if Rios get's hot he can shoot the light's out. Because it is in Bozeman, it's gotta be the Hawks.

Did anyone see the game? Oh wait, Hellgate came through in the clutch. THey won as I predicted. Morris and McGillis both dropped 23, and Cox was droppin dimes all night long. Hellgate is the new #1 team in the state, and in my opinion they will win the state tourney. is bozeman still the best team in the state now?????!

Well, Bozeman lost to Skyview the next night 50-38. So that kind of diminished Hellgate's win a bit. Maybe the Hawks just had a let down vs. Skyview or maybe they aren't that good or maybe they had a bunch of sick players. Hellgate is far from a lock for the title, but I'd give them the nod as the front-runner right now.

Haha. OK. I hate when people do what I just did, too. Yeah, Hellgate is the class of the AA talent-wise. They look like they are picking up steam and I say they roll to the title. How's that?

As a Hellgate alum. I hate to say this, but this Hellgate team is very talented but, has a
nasty selfish steak that rears its head from time to time. With a single elimination format
of the state championship I could see them riding their talent to the Championship or
flaming out in the first round and self self-destructing in the loser out bracket. I still think
coach Sampson has a lot of work to do to get this team ready for State.

mslacat...at the start of the season the knights lost 3 of their first 7 and many people were jumping on the "overrated" bandwagon. By winning six straight games, and moving into a tie for first in the west the knights have got back on track. I agree with you that at the beginning of the season the Hellgate trio wasn't sure of their roles, but have figured it out lately. McGillis has had a better attitude and looks very aggressive recently, Cox has converted from a scorer to a pass first pg, and Morris has definately found his stroke recently putting up impressive numbers. I don't know if they will lose again before state, and I think that Sampson will have them ready to make a title run.
