OK Bozemanites I need some suggestions. I have a three day conference in Bozeman
next week on the 4,5,and 6th at the Windgate. There are so many new hotels in
Bozeman I really have no Idea what’s, what. I usually stay at the Ramada when I go
down with the family, and have stayed at the Holiday Inn on a few occasions. I checked
out the Windgate, but it had very few amenities, no food, no pool, ect. and was at a
premium price. I am not that picky, all I need is a clean room, soft bed, a little TV, and
walking distance to food. Any suggestions!

Also anything going on in Bozeman next week?

My favorite place is the Wingate. It has free breakfast, a pool and work out room. It is walking distance from Johnny Carrinos for dinner, and is really a nice place.

After that I would probably choose Holiday Inn or the Grandtree. I have never been in the Best Western down town, but it's in a great location to get food and beer.

I don't know what is going on over the weekend for sure, but I do know that almost every hotel was packed for this weekend. Have family coming into town for the weekend and they couldn't find anything...strangely though none of the hotels new why they were so packed????

Not sure if that will be the same case for the weekdays next week. I kind of doubt it, but thought I would give a heads up just in case.

As for motels, the Bozeman Inn, Comfort(I think) or Grantree would be pretty good. Close to food at Famous Daves, Santa Fe's, Applebee's and quick and easy access over to the Wingate for the conference.

MSU Friday. There will be about 400 high school students and their families touring the campus on friday, and I'm sure that many of the out of state families will be staying the weekend to take in some skiing.

Probably just me because I went to junior high and high school in Belgrade, but I prefer meeting the wife and kids at the Super 8 just south of the cloverleaf on Jackrabbit Lane. Then I can take the extra 40 bucks and eat at Sir Scotty's in Manhattan Get to have a real beer or three instead of having to rub elbow with the insipid wine sippers...

You're going to start hurting my feelings ... wine makes me happy. Speaking of which, that wine bar in downtown Bozeman is awesome. It is seriously one of the cooler wine bars I have ever been in. I wish we had something like that in my neighborhood.

One can't live on beer alone ... although many have tried ... and it's fun while it lasts.

I'm in the hard A phase of my life, sorry to say.

But I'm kind of a health nut, so I need to have fruit in my diet as well ... wine!

...now that Ravalliornia is full we're getting a little upper crust in the Valley

Best Western downtown is my favorite. Walking distance to some great downtown resturants plus close to the R Bar and the Cannery. Rooms are very nice and clean.

Best Western used to be within crawling distance of several watering holes...

Yeah, the agriculture industry down here is quite diverse -- they grow almost everything around here!

I know. California used to absolutely amaze me. So huge and every conceivable activity or demograpic. What I enjoyed more than anything about Ft. Ord was being able to shoot on the ocean, drive to the mountains (and out of the snow the same day), but then again there aren't very many places in the U.S. I would not want to go back to--ever!

Fort Ord in particular is a beautiful place. The place is kind of a ghost town now, though. Hundreds of empty buildings.... I'm not sure what they are eventually going to do with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets developed into housing. They use the main parking lot in it for Pebble Beach golf tournaments now, and they run buses back and forth.

...and I'd hate to see the original thread about the Bozo Hostels get separated, but I kind of wonder what the younguns that have never worn a military uniform think of this; perhaps Ord could be a training camp and everybody get "bused" down to Camp Roberts again?

Is the Baxter still a Hotel? Condos? Appartment? Retirement Living? Office? Cat house? Closed?
