Montana fared quite well. Seems hard to believe some of the installations on the list will either close or be realigned of course September 8th will see a great deal of back scratching by Congress.

It is tough to close down a base that really makes a community survive. I was in Glasgow for awhile and when that based closed the town never fully recovered. But you have to realize that the world has changed and these bases are not necessary. I know that these closures are going to be hard on communities, but the Government has to look at their budget and make decisions that are appropriate. Bases have to be closed is the bottom line…

Yeah Buddy, I'll tell you what! I was born in Glasgow and still remember all the missile sites being put in place by the Malmstrom and GAFB Airmen; Opheim and Havre both had pretty sophisticated radar facilities with quite a few airmen. Another big hit on Glasgow was when they finally got the dam online and better technology. Have to agree with Ellmsdorf in S.D. getting the axe. Doesn't make sense to close Malmstrom because we still have 200 of the countries 500 active missile sites.

Just heard that on the final list that just came out - Malmstrom survived but they are closing MANG (The Montana Air National Guard) unit in G.F.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
