I got suckered into (I can't believe I fell for this) the Windows Recovery virus. I actually was able to disable it on my own, but now all my files are in the hidden and system files area. I Googled how to get them back into their respective places, such as My Documents, My Pictures, etc., but no help there. Can ya help a fool?

Join the club Tom!!
You can re- set you file folders from hidden status by going to the control panel, selecting "folder options" and going to the "view" tab within that. Down just a little bit is a "show hidden files" check box.
You can set that to show all so you can find the files you want to keep before setting it back to its normal setting. You don't want to always see every file that's on the computer, just the ones you created or use.
Once you find your previously hidden files and folders, right mouse click on the folders and files to reveal a menu that at the bottom has a check box for the file's to be hidden or not, and just "un check" the hidden file box.
I would also start Windows in safe mode and run an anti-malware program like Malwarebytes, available for free on cnet.com Running the anti-malware program in safe mode helps it to better get at the offending crap that's infecting your computer.
Hope this is helpful.

This.
Or you can do a system restore to a point in time before you got the virus.

Dump Windows, embrace 64bit Linux and never deal with a virus again.

There must have been a major run on this one last week. I got one on Wednesday and the my coworker got one the next day...Our IT guy reset the computer to system restore, did the Malware and that took care of it...pretty frustrating....
