Just heard that the Pine Creek cafe and cabins burned to the ground this afternoon. Sad deal. I used to sit out there in the early mornings when filling Chronicle racks and call in the wild turkeys. Hope they can rebuild.

I'm a member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church (my mother is the pianist and organist) and it survived the fire so far with some scorching, confirmed by a fellow PCUMC member at 9PM tonight. The fire did burn the outhouse and the barn. The Pine Creek Store is OK, but heard an unconfirmed report that a few of the cabins were lost. One house on Rocky Hollow Bench confirmed lost by a relative of mine that lives a 1/4 mile away. Unconfirmed report of one other lost as well, don't know where. Fire is currently threatening Pine Creek Campground, and therefore also Luccock Park Church Camp is on notice. Strong afternoon south-westerly winds moved it north and east and it has spread all the way across to Deep Creek and is trying to crest the peaks of the mountains and head over into the Boulder. Winds have now died down, but it's still burning. Scary stuff, but I knew it was only a matter of time before it happened. Was started on a construction site.

Good memories at the Pine Creek campground.

I hope the weather changes for the better and those fighting fire all over the state stay safe.

Ugh. This year has been awful.
