MSU academic awards count

I asked for, and received, this list from a MSU Ambassador:
Goldwater - 64
Fulbright - 25
Rhodes - 10
Truman - 9
Udall - 8
Mitchell - 2
Marshall - 1
Gates-Cambridge - 1
Compares well to athletics:
50 individual national champions
14 team national champions
6 men's rodeo
3 football
2 women's rodeo
2 rifle
1 men's basketball
Looks like a good balance to me.

Thank you for posting this great information. Speaking of rodeo, I visited their website for the first time just the other day. What an eye opener. The team is huge! The Chute Boss Club is very active and raises monies necessary to provide support including scholarships. I encourage everyone to take a look. GO BOBCAT RODEO!

I took your advice and looked at the website. I got a kick out of the first title listed. Wild Cow Milking. No wonder we are the udder university.

Heck almost any cow can be harassed enough to get them mad and wild to provide for a dangerous and entertaining wild cow milking contest. Some breeds are more naturally wild, the Saler breed is one that is pretty high strung. Think of the bitchiest female you know then add in a good dose of PMS and you have your average Saler cow attitude. Of course that cow weighs over a thousand pounds so it is more than a handful to handle.

Wild cows are usually range cows that don't get handled. They obviously don't milk a Jersey milk cow in the contest.
