HB, thanks for the link; I really enjoyed it.

I found it interesting when the soldier wrote about the simple technology the enemy uses to find American positions using Google Earth.

It was also interesting to read his fun facts about how many of the autopsies on the enemy showed they had opiates in their systems.

FYI: Marines don't like to be called soldiers. I see this in the press and hear it on TV/radio all the time.

It sounded like he was just providing information helpful to avoid offending Marines. I've been corrected by a Marine on that point in the past as well, so I know first-hand that it is a distinction that they are quite adamant about.

They (Marines) are called Marines as opposed to "soldiers." They have a superiority complex in relation to the Army, so they demand that they be called Marines, while Army personnel are soldiers.

And as long as they are taking bullets on our behalf, I guess I'm happy to call them whatever they want to be called. :)

Call it "superiority complex," or just plain ol' healthy rivalry, but none of the services like to be called terms from the other services. The Air Force, though, seems to be trying to be more and more like the Army. :yuck: (sorry, Nell family--I had to, it's the AF Blue in me)

Hey I like the Air Force, better shopping !!!! pretty crappy PX here in Ft.Lewis, but in Hawaii - WOW can you say "power zone sale" without a heard of men trampling over you, not a chance

as for the Marine thing, yeah they are very distinctive about that. Kudos for holding firm, they're usually the first in and they take serious casualties, so HooAh to them :D

our Army guys and gals are proud soldiers, and glad to be soldiers. As for you fly boys in blue - well, you're okay too

Actually, Rebecca, the BX here at Hickam is not near as good as the Naval Exchange (NEX) at Pearl Harbor--its size rivals some Wal-Marts!

Gotta' love that Air Force blue! Too bad is isn't maroon.

Their food isn't bad either!

Cory- Hickam is like Costco!!! LOVE IT!!!! :D :D :D

You still have it better than Ft. Lewis, always prefer McChord to ours, may be the people are not as pushy.

spent many of my years going back and forth between travis AFB and home, may be you flyboys are just a sentimental choice

I will admit the McChord new BX is choice. We were up there visiting family this summer. Nice complex.
