Superbowl?

Who are you picking?

I'm thinking it will be a Seahawks/Steelers Superbowl, and man to I want the Seahawks to win it! I was raised in family of Seahawks and Packers fans, and I love both. And they're both kind of like being Bobcat fans, the good seasons are so much sweeter!!!!

Seahawks / Broncos, no real reason why. I'm a Packer fan so I'm kind of cheering for Holmgren and Hasselback.

Regardless of who is in I'll bet this superbowl has some of the lowest TV ratings ever. Why? All four remaining teams are "small market" teams, relativley speaking. And most of the "superstars" that draw national attention are already out of the playoffs. There are some football players people will want to watch just to cheer for/against them like; Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, TO, Randy Moss, Brett Favre, Mike Vick, Ladanian Tomlinson, possible Donovan McNabb. Besides league MVP Alexander, theres no standouts who have had years of national recognition on any of these teams, at least not as a "superstar." Alexander wasn't even noticed until midway through the season, even though he led the league in rushing and TDs. Each team has some up and coming superstars (maybe) but none that draw heavy national attention, like; Steve Smith, Matt Hasselback, Shaun Alexander, Ben Roethlisberger, Jake Plummer (BIG maybe), Hines Ward...

Thing is too, with all 4 of these teams the superbowl should be a pretty good game too, regardless of who makes it.

I had a similar discussion at lunch today about how good this Super Bowl should be even though it will be hardly watched. I would like to see the Steelers and Seahawks face off. As long as Denver isn't there, I will be happy!

I'm going to go with Steelers/Seaweiners. Steelers to win. I think Plummer is finally going to crack like good old Jake does and I just don't think Carolina is as good as they seem, they are bound to fold. Steelers are riding a lot of momentum right now and of all the teams in the playoffs, I would fear playing them the most right now. Steelers in a close one by 6.

PS I'm a Raider fan so by nature I have to root against the donkies.

I'm not really sure that the "small market" teams work as you suggest they do in this particular case. Oakland, Pittsburgh and Green Bay are all technically "small market" teams, but those three teams have the most robust national fanbases in the country. A Super Bowl that includes the Steelers will have high ratings, as there is a shocking number of Steeler fans throughout the country (most of whom have never set foot in PA).

I hate the Donkies and grew up worshipping the Steelers, so that side is a no-brainer. Carolina is just boring (now that their cute "expansion team makes good" aura has worn off) and they wear teal, which just isn't a football color (save that for hockey). Therefore, I have to go with the Seahawks. That will also make for a virtual "all AFC" Super Bowl, which is the way it should be.

Denver-Seahawks

Steelers played their A+ game against the Colts and won't have anything left in the tank verse a very good Bronco squad.

The Seahawks are a much better team then the Panthers. Speaking of which, how the hell did Carolina make it this far!

I think the Carolina/Bears game was a testament to the fact that virtually the entire NFC sucked this year.

we live in WA - therefore Seattle. Besides, I'm not really liking any of the teams this year. I still prefer when I do watch FB to watch college, the FB players have passion still, pro's do it for the money. that bores me when athletes with minimal injuries, whine about having to play in the pros and in college even those with more major injuries have to be held back from playing, because they're just wanting to hit the field.

needless to say - I'm not on the superbowl band wagon, no biggie.

Life long Seahawks fan so got to go with them and my brother is a Steeler fan and they are probably my favorite AFC team now. That's what I'm hoping for but learned long ago not to get my hopes up over the Seahawks.

Seattle is ripe for the upset:

the 05 Redskins will ultimately go down in history as the WORST team to ever win a playoff game and the Hawks could only manage a 20-10 win AT HOME?!

I'd take Carolina in a heartbeat if they had either Foster or Davis; if the Seaflops win, Holmgren can thank his lucky stars that the Panthers were down to a 3rd string tailback.

I still think Carolina will upset Seattle (just not going to wager on it), due in some part to the Seattle factor: Remember a few years ago when the Mariners won a League record 116 games, and then were promptly ousted before even making it to the World Series? This Seahawk team is set up perfectly to follow in the Mariners footsteps: locked up the division & homefield early, then coasted before realizing too late that they aren't NEARLY as good as their record. Look, the Flops play in THE WORST division in football; what team couldn't go 6-0 against the pathetic Rams, Cardinals, and 49ers?? This team was beaten by the lowly Redskins, and was gifted wins by the Giants idiot kicker & by Drew Bledsoe.

The difference is I actually liked that Mariner team; I can't like this edition of the Seachickens simply because they still have Andy Reid's long-lost brother, Mike Holmgren, the NFL'S MOST OVERRATED COACH, rolling along the sidelines...

oh ChiO don't get all upset with me. I only watch the games for the butts anyway, you know that by now

I just don't like watching pro sports - the money taints it for me. I do think that athletes that don't get $$$ in their eyes have more fun, show more passion, and i enjoy really watching those kids play. Of course i prefer lacrosse, hockey, soccer and BB to FB anyway.

I will miss all the food at the superbowl parties, i like that

I do hope the Seahawks win, my boy will be thrilled

I wasn't gettin' upset. Just pointing out there are still some in pro football.

Gato, the Seahawks loss to the Redskins was their last loss until the one to GB. They had a pretty good streak, almost as good as the Colts straight wins. OH, the Seahawks beat them too.

For once, I have confindence in them. I was really leary when Alexander fumbled, then went out. But they fought it out and still won. Thank God Hasselbeck is finally warmed up!

I am hoping for a Denver vrs Seattle Super Bowl just so I can listen to all the folks on ESPN TV and Radio bitch and moan. Most of those guy's at ESPN completely forgot there was a team in Seattle until Alexander won the MVP.

I'm thinking Denver-Seattle right now. I would also like to see Pittsburgh get there. For the Seattle Seahawk franchise, it's long overdue for this team to reach the Super Bowl. And ESPN won't like the western matchup, but I would! These are the two "local" teams, I guess. Two other great reasons for that matchup are that they were long-time division rivals and there's a rematch next year in Denver.

Gato, I have to agree with you about the 2001 Mariners. They have to be one of the major reasons I like baseball today watching these guys, and for that matter, listening to future hall of famer Dave Niehaus at the mic. Maybe someday soon, go M's!

I guess I've got baseball on the mind...I know it's off topic. Here's to the first "regional" Super Bowl! I can't wait to see what commercials Budweiser has in store...

I think we are going to have a Seattle-- Denver Superbowl, and it will be tight.

Of COURSE I'm a Seahawks fan-- I get to go to the Championship game this weekend. Watch for me I'll be painted blue and gold and green
