How many of us?

Would take a new job if it didn't have all the benefits? Health and dental? 401K, some sort of ESOP, or equivalent retirement package?
I know I never did, and if I were to reenter the work force I probably would not.
How many of us comparison shop, looking for the best price? And buy that with the best price regardless of where it was made or who it was made by?
I know we do.
Why is GM currently struggling to stay afloat? Because of their employee benefits packages.
Why do companies move to the underdeveloped nations to manufacture things? Because they know that price is the bottom line.
And it's great for us all to get pissed about them moving OUR jobs oversees. Do we really do anything to help them out? How many tax dollars are lost because medium wage jobs move to other countries?
This is not something we can expect our government to fix for us. They can not control what we buy, or what we demand from our employers.
And would be all need to worry so much about health care coverage is malpractice insurance were not so high? And why are drug prices so high? Because they sink so much money into R&D and have to recoup that before generics go on the market (what is it, 10 years?) And our health insurances urge us to go generic because it saves them money.
Just a little something weighing on my mind with all the politcal talk here the last few days.
