Winter Olympics
This morning some of my coworkers and I were discussing the Winter Olympics. We talked about how we didn’t realize the Winter Olympics were this year until about a week prior to the opening ceremony. Also, out of the four of us that were talking only one person had watched a number of events. I for one have not watched a single event; I just catch the highlights on ESPN. So I was wondering who is watching the Winter Olympics and what does everyone else think about them.

I guess I'm only slightly interested, mostly in hockey both men's and women's and curling because who doesn't like a sport that you can drink while participating in! Just like you though, I had not idea that the Olympics were even happening until last week. I don't know if it was poor advertising for it or a lack of interest or a little bit of both.

My interest in the Olympics is pretty limited. I did watch them on Saturday because they were the only sporting event being broadcast in HD and whenever I have the chance to watch something slighty interesting in HD I take the opportunity.
If they broadcast the world dart championships(if they exist) in HD I would probably watch that as well!

I really enjoy alot of the Winter Olympic events and we watch the winter events more avidly than the summerl events. That said, it just isn't quite the same when everything is edited to fit within prime time and with time differences and 24 hour news, internet, etc., you already know the outcomes of several events before they are broadcast and I think that is one main reason for the lack of excitement about the games. While I still watched the Men's downhill, it was pretty anti-climatic because we already knew that Bode Miller ended up 5th thanks to the NBC announcers covering the Bud Shootout earlier in the day.
