Bozeman/Belgrade High Schools
With the talk of opening a second high school in Bozeman and with the growth of Belgrade and that high school, there are a few questions that I have. How do you all think Belgrade would do in class AA when they move up? Would Bozeman HS and the new high school both be AA schools? Would the new high school start as a low class HS? Would Bozeman High move down a class?

In basketball, almost their entire varsity is made up of Seniors, and their JV got mandandled by the MCHS JV when I watched them play ... so my bold prediction for next year is that Belgrade will be the worst bball team in Class A.eagle43 wrote:I don't think Belgrade would do very good in AA. I mean, this year they lost to two class B schools, one of which didn't even make it out of their district, and almost lost to another one(Three Forks). Belgrade has a hard enough time in class A.
Ultimately, though, due to skyrocketing enrollment numbers, I would bet that Belgrade will be AA, and will probably be as competitive as anyone.

Belgrade won't be an AA school for 5-10 years. They need to be over 900 in enrollment for two consecutive years, and they just broke 800 this year. Bozeman won't have to split after they build their new Junior High. They are going to move all of Chief Joseph to that building and make a freshman academy out of Chief Joseph. That will take 400-500 students out of the high school and relieve a lot of the pressure for several years. Belgrade has been very competitive with AA schools in basketball over the last 10 years, just not this year.
I swear, it's like I'm playin' cards with my brother's kids or somethin'. You nerve-wrackin' sons-a-bitches.'

Building a new high school in Bozeman would be a waste of money. The median age in the city is 25.5 years. Most people living there are young adults in college or just out of college. Most will leave Bozeman before they have children old enough to go to high school. Bozeman is growing fast, but the population is still only around 30K, and that is not enough people to justify two high schools.

Belgrade has a chance of going to state this year, challenge game tonight. They don't have the talent but I would take Elliot over most of AA coaches. Cole included.Bay Area Cat wrote:In basketball, almost their entire varsity is made up of Seniors, and their JV got mandandled by the MCHS JV when I watched them play ... so my bold prediction for next year is that Belgrade will be the worst bball team in Class A.eagle43 wrote:I don't think Belgrade would do very good in AA. The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.
