This could be rich. Do you suppose they will now do an episode making fun of Isaac Hayes? Or will Chef have a sex change operation like Mr. Garrison so his voice will change? Whichever way they play it, I am sure it will be funny.

I'm guessing Isaac Hayes is going to get his own special South Park episode. :P

I like the creators comeback. Its true, they have bashed on every religion in the past & Hayes never had a problem w/it. But now that they have bashed Sceintology it is bigotry, come on!

Interesting...

I'll miss Chef, he's a funny character. A few of my closer friends and I joke amongst each other about one of the guys being our "Chef."

The genius behind him was being this outside source of alternate info to the boys, so I wonder if they'll look to bring in another character that is very much chef-like.

Maybe James Earl Jones is ready for a change of pace?

Hayes was on the O&A show a couple months ago, and a caller brought up that episode, and asked Hayes if he had any problem with it being a scientologist. He said you have to have a sense of humor, that South Park lampoons everything, and it didn't bother him.

Seems he has had a change of heart about the issue, I wonder what happened.

O&A are trying to get the audio of their interview to news outlets - here is a link to the audio

They must have threatened to pull his spaceship privileges if he didn't take a stand ... or they threatened to sue him.

I've had a little exposure to that group, and they freak me out.

This story gets odder by the day.

Isaac Hayes apparently had a stroke in January and others close to him (not from this article) claim they were with him after the "Trapped in the Closet" episode aired. They claim he had no problem with it and that he loved playing Chef.

COOKED-UP CONTROVERSY?: File this under "provocative": Isaac Hayes did not quit his gig voicing South Park's Chef over some Scientology flap. In a follow-up to last week's hubbub, FoxNews.com deems it "ridiculous" that the singer, who has been recovering from a stroke suffered in mid-January, would all of a sudden turn against the show for poking fun at his religion. Those close to Hayes are said to be "mystified" by the statement released March 13 and attributed to him. As one friend tells FoxNews.com, "Isaac's been concentrating on his recuperation for the last two and a half, three months." In related news, the Scientology-skewering "Trapped in a Closet" episode, pulled last week amidst allegations that Tom Cruise had flexed some muscle, will air this Wednesday at 10 pm/ET.

Strange, strange, strange...not surprisingly, I read earlier today that Parker and Stone have re-done this week's season premiere to be all about Chef.

"Dad, Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet!"

I don't watch much SouthPark, but did see that one. I loved it!
