must admit I am prone to short order cooking as i have the little stinky at home, but trying to explain to her brother that I wont buy him a school breakfast when he gets the same or better at home is like beating my head against a wall. I refuse to spend 1.75 (yup I'm scrooge!) so he can eat a 3 oz bowl of cereal at school, when I have the same in our pantry. now i get the thing eat with friends, so i'm happy to pack a muffin and milk or whatever, but teaching my 6 year old economics doesn't work.

checks only stretch so far and when you add up 3.75/day over a school year, it really adds up. Now with a second getting ready to start, and more demands for extra out of school activities, i think making kids eat at home is fair. nice to know there are other "mean" parents out there
