Newsweek's Top 1000 High Schools in the Nation

Bozeman High checks in at 536 - a very respectable ranking.

Good eye. I had scanned that link yesterday, but I didn't catch Bozeman High in there. I wish there was a way to sort through that list to filter all of the data. I wonder how high Bozeman rated as compared to other public schools. Clearly, it's hard to compete with all of those $20K per year private schools in ratings like this.

These rankings are interesting, that's for sure. Stevensville High School was also ranked at 1,028, but I didn't see any other Montana schools on there. I imagine that these rankings aren't geared toward Montana schools anyway. But some ideas on Bozeman High. I've been through there in 2 capacities: one as a student and the other doing a paraprofessional observation for a class at MSU. The teachers and administrators are very committed to quality education and a good number of the students are ready and willing to learn. I was doing some substitute teaching last week and talking with some students about AP exams. Some of them had three or four of those things that they were taking in the next two weeks. I took a bunch of those myself, and got 36 credits to start college. I also remember being very well prepared for college; in my first college history class, I thought that it was easier than the AP US History class I took in high school. I think the system in Bozeman works pretty well. Congratulations to Bozeman and Stevensville for those rankings!

And 2002, that was mighty classy of you to say something good about Bozeman. I know that was hard for you. 8)

Pretty good for a bunch of kids just accused of being sex mongers for doing the "bump and grind" at the prom!

Holy smoke...all three high schools in my town, Bellevue, WA are in the top 50. They don't look any smarter to me than the kids in Kalispell!! Except the parking lots are full of late model Acura's, Infinities and BMW's which is somehow disturbing.

The tongue in cheek letters to the editor about the article have been even more entertaining.
