I actually thought the quote from Burns' camp was great.

Ummm, are they hiring ringers for the campaign (both in terms of a shooting event as well as for the "supporting the troops/patriotism" debate)?

Nicely played.

In Onion style:

"In other news, Burns spokespeople announced that a fundraiser will be attended by a Burns staffer who 'Is not a married gay person,' and he will be represented at the State Fair by a staffer who 'Has never burned a flag.'"

What was the quote from Burns camp?
I like that the woman was the one who wanted to participate!

Oh ... this was the blurb I was talking about:
Burns has a pre-scheduled event at Pompeys Pillar. He is going to commemorate the new interpretive center at the national monument, which the senator helped get the $4.9 million to build, according to Sarah Pompei, a Burns spokesman.

"It sounds like a fun event and he wishes he could be there," she said.

Burns may send some of his staff members who served in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, she said.

Burns always has skeet shoots for fundraisers and is pretty good with a shotgun but I have no idea how he'd do with a pistol.

I think Lindeen being so available says a lot about how her campaign is going.

The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.

As Mslacat said, "only in Montana".

When I was growing up, we lived in Helena just a few blocks from the Governor's mansion. One day we had friends visiting from NYC. We were out walking our dog, and passed the mansion, and Gov Schwinden came out (in his jeans, of course) all by himself and talked to us for five minutes or so. Our New York friends were aghast! They couldn't figure out where his body guards were, and why he would come out alone to talk to US, of all people!! Montanans may be a bit hicky (okay, maybe a lot hickey!), but there's still no place like it.
