Harold Reynolds fired

Post by go_catz! » Wed Jul 26, 2006 3:44 pm

Was wondering where he was the last couple nights. Hopefully he gets this cleared up...I like him as an analyst.

He is a good analyst who brings excitement for the game to his job. I thought he was excellent during the college world series.

If this was simply a hug during work to a coworker then the punishment seems excessive. A suspension may be more appropriate. Are they just punishing him because he is visible, versus a camera man or other employee or would they do the same to them. sometimes we get caught up in the difference between inappropriate and sexual harassment.

I kinda doubt it was just a hug that was misinterpreted. I like the guy as an analyst and wish he was still around, but I don't think that ESPN would fire someone over something that was as minor as he claims.

From what I heard he had been warned many time to keep his hands off the P.A.'s (typically 20 ish college grads). After one or two warnings I would have a hard time giving someone a hand shake. The hug may have been OK maybe not, but it would not surpise me if where the hands ended up during the hug that got him in trouble.

Oop's did I touch that!....... awww shucky darn I did not mean to do that!

Sorry guy's that is excuse number 59b paragraph 2, no one is going to by it!! Best to keep you hands to yourself!!

I agree with all of your assessments just interested to know if they would treat other employees who are not as visible the same way. If it has happened before and he was warned, was he suspended.

I would guess (based only on the nature of corporate culture) that if he had been someone less important/visible, he would have probably been fired sooner.

I'm going to be a complete asshole and call out this woman. I'm willing to bet she is doing this just for publicity and money.
If I am wrong, so be it. I just feel like being a dick about this because I like Harold so much.

Well ... if she gets either money or publicity out of this, then you will have the first piece of the argument.

Harold Reynolds is a great analyst and he's easier to listen to than a Joe Morgan, for example. Good analysts are hard to find. It's too bad that something like this had to end his tenure at ESPN. I know this is going to sound really bad, but I think sexual harrassment really gets overblown in this country.
