Hey Bear, have you ever heard of the phrase; "comparing apples to apples not oranges to oranges?"

The Griz have one heck of a better chance of an NC than the chance the cats have of sharing their third 3 way tie for a BSC title.
So are you saying that you think the griz are going to win an NC? If so how about you put your money where you mouth is. I will give you 10:1 odds, by putting up my weekly paycheck against your monthly paycheck. Let me know if you're interested....

Where in the post does it say anything about us willing the NC? Let me help you out - I will type real slow so you can keep up. GRIZ have a chance at a NC - bobcats have a chance at nothing, no sharing of the BSC, no NC. Does that help?

Sounds like my weekly if 10 times bigger than your monthly!
You may want to have someone at the computer there to read my last post for you, and then explain monosyllablicly enough for you to understand. I know that having numbers in there with all of the words is pretty confusing.

Maybe you should have your kids explain it to you....

You very well could be right, but at the very least, we will be in the post season...again.

I don't get it... since when did the Griz start measuring the success of their program based on what the 'Cats are doing? Another example of how your team is not what it once was.

That sure was a zinger, tho! You are so clever.

GRIZ don’t and won’t measure the success of their program against the cats. (Why would we ever drop that low)

What bearBac did was compare the two teams, Get it. Compare not measure. And yes when you win a national championship and the next year you don’t, your team is not what it once was. Happens to ALL teams that win the NC and then don’t the next year. That being said, by anyone’s measurement, the GRIZ have a highly successful program. List 3 teams in all of 1-AA that has had a more successful program over the last 5, 10, or 15 years.

Someday (maybe) the cats will be held with same high esteem that the GRIZ are in the world of 1-AA Football.

The difference between cat fans and griz fans is that Cat fans know that we can see our team progressing and getting better and we know that our best day are in front of us. jizz fans look to the past for their best days. They know that their program is regressing, so they feel it necessary to point to what they've done in the past, and because of that we're supposed to respect their team.

Yeah, I get it, that is why I raised the question, Dunce. Perhaps I should rephrase more bluntly: Since when do the Griz go so low as to justify how good thier season is by comparing it to what kind of year the 'Cats had? That sure seems to be what I saw in the earlier post. Where have your standards gone? What you claim not to be, in fact, is... on a number of levels.

Griz fans are just downright cheesey sometimes. The village nerds in "the world of 1-AA Football". Shouldn't you be hanging out at eGriz in the Poetry Corner thread, astral-invisioning the outcome of this weekend's game whilst stroking your stuffed mini-monte? I thought so, goodbye...

I always get labled as this high-stress, crotchety fan. Actually I'm quite relaxed right now, and in a pleasant mood. :x

I know El-Gato can sympathize with me.

If you lose this weekend that would be 3 in a row with one of the top QB's in the nation after two straight playoff years. That would also means you played 3 ranked teams (not to mention Suck St.) and lost to all of them. That's progressing?

After losing three straight games I can understand how you feel about your team.

The tide is out and left the cats behind. How can you claim this year is more sucessfull than last years? Last year you got to play in a post season game.

Well, there's another shining example of the differences between us, ecg.

Making the playoffs and W/L records are very good gauges indeed of how you did a particular year. I think the sentiment of most of us Cats is that we DID make progress this year and our program is STILL headed in the right direction. Would it have been better if we'd 3-peated and made the postseason? Absolutely. Does it automatically mean the season was unsuccessful because we didn't accomplish those things? Absolutely not. The point is that coming into this season, we didn't really know what to expect because we lost so many PROVEN kids, particularly on defense, last year. I think our D would have been the equal of last year's if we'd managed to avoid all the injuries that hit us. Was our D better? No. Will it be better next year? Yes.

Offensively, however, we came light-years this season. We are as potent offensively right now as I've seen in my 25 years following the Cats and the beauty is, we get everyone but Sully back!

Bottom line: we continued to become a better team & a better program this season and next year I feel we will field the deepest & most talented team since 84. That, to me, qualifies this season as a success. I hope that someday soon we will be able to measure success with National Championships, just as you do in Missoula now.

El Gato, very good post I wish I could said it so eloquently. I agree and Kramer would agree that the season would have been better if we were the playoffs, but we are not. Have we made major strides, yes we have. Will be even better next year, yes we will. Will we make the playoffs next year, I like our chances. Will we beat the Griz this weekend, without a doubt. Will the population of Montana remember that the Griz made the playoffs by the time spring rolls around? Doubt it. Will they remember who won the game of the year? Absolutlely.
