my two cents who might be some up coming stars for this program.starting with the young guys.
freshman-
#49-wesly mauia:kid has the size and from what i hear i can hit.we'll see if he can push for playin time..if not start.
#66-chris smith:big guy who is probably gonna get bigger.great guard size.just might be better than brant birkland if chris can get some snaps in pracitce.good/powerful run blocker that can help the team in that area.
#75-louis saucedo:from all of these guys i think saucedo has nfl potential and size and can be great lineman that came out of msu.i hear that there is possiblity that one of the five returning wont be returning as a starter because saucedo is better.he and smith could form a great left side or even right.
#83-michel brown:pretty good size and good speed and i hear the boy can catch.we will see when he gets into game mode.but i think he'll be up there in the rotation.
#10-tyler lulay-good possession reciever who can catch.could compete with brown for the 4th spot or even the 3rd and 2nd.guinn and roosevelt...watch out.
#3-ryan kelly:from what i heard he played some pretty damn good scout team running back.but they will leave him at db.he should be good.height isnt where most want it.but was the fastest freshman this year and has good weight(about 180).he might get thicker to push wr around.
#24-dan ashley:he might be too small for lband they'll probably move him to safety.real good high school player.like kelly he was too a great high school running but came to msu as a defensive player.
ok ill do the red-freshman tomorrow and from there ill do the other classes.

I don't know about the guys who haven't played yet, but boy was I impressed with Ryan Force this year. Give him another year and I think he can be one of the better safeties/DB's MSU has produced in the last 10 years.

my next rising stars
ok,i did freshman yesterday, now ill do the red-shirt freshman and the sophs.
#44-epikopo king:going to start and with his speed(super fast lb is what i hear) and his size (6'0 210 lbs)he should be a real good backer for us.why not try him at safety?hmmm....maybe.
#13-kory austin:ok ok,some people are going to kill me for putting this up, but im going to stick with the kid.he has great size and he'll probably be the third db on the depth chart.but he will be a good player once he gets more expeiance and more time to develope.
#42-clive lowe:i cant wait to see this guy play next year.this year was kind of an up and down year(well it was for the d-line). but he should get better.he'll get bigger and fast.he'll be our best d-line man in the next two years.
#9-andre fuller:moving him to safety might be the best thing for this team.he has good speed(faster than force and toft) and the boy can flat out hit.so that will fit him and the defense well or years to come.
#20-ryan force- not fast, not the best hitter, but one of the smartest players on the team.does the things htat he needs.probably wont play corner(unless its cover two) but he'll be good and get bsc honors again.
#73-joe hirst:recovering from knee injury.hopefully returns to old form.can be real good when healthy.we'll see.didnt look like the same player from last year.one question to ask,"is the knee still in his heade?"
#?-eddie smith:great team player.just wants to be on the field.great speed that will help defense.could he be the shut down corner that we need?can we rely on him to go one on one with the best wr?we'll see.eddie its time to shut the yap and perform.
#93-andy matakis:powerful run stopper.should help the middle, which by the way we need to.(coach K, we need some beef in the middle.hello!!!)anyways he should be good and he as two more years.
thats my two cents for today.next time ill have my imput on the juniors(the upcoming seniors).bye bye now.

Re: my next rising stars
Godd assessment, however in my experience Ryan Force is about the fiercest hitter on the defense for his size. He really brings the wood! He made several bone crunching stops this year from the free safety position...that is why I believe they are making him a strong safety.catloya wrote:ok,i did freshman yesterday, now ill do the red-shirt freshman and the sophs.

alright its time for my final group of upcoming stars.
#64-jeff bolton:nfl bound guard.he should be the best o-lineman in the conference,if he doesnt get banged up like he was little bit this year.but has great size (6'2/ 6'3 290 lbs).he will be the leader and general for the o-line.should be and might an all american.
#1-ricky gatewood:will be good as long as he doenst start off slow like this year.if he can carry the momentum he had this year to next year...watch out he is gonna be good.great speed and route running and can catch anything if he is in rythem.
#92-daryl rogers:i dont know who played better this year him or beau.just put it this way,he'll be the best interior lineman next year.good speed and got better as the year went on.should get bigger.
#33-mac mollahan:returning all big sky will continue being the every down player that msu needs.great speed and tackling will and he lead the team with sacks..should contend for defense of player of the year in the big sky.
#43-nick marrudas:almost the same as mac.we missed him this season, but hell..he'll be here this year and earn some honors also.
#14-travis lulay:*sniff sniff* its his, last year next season.and i bet it will be his best.the o line returns and he'll be more mature and a hell of alot better.should get all american honors.are the coaches ready to retire his number?
#72-Lawrence Figueroa:undersize guard(5'11-6'0 265 lbs) but a first team all big sky performer.if he was 3 inches taller and 20 lbs heavier..i think he would be a a nfl looky.scouts would take a look at him.hard worker and the emotional anchor on the o-line and the team.

I would have left off half the list and included Watson (best guard/center in the freshman class) and Groves (RB) instead. They were with the varsity most of the year as red shirt freshmen.
Any of the freshmen will have a very hard time if not impossible to start next year (except of course for Barnhart unless they find a JC transfer TE). The rest of the offensive positions (save one WR spot) just has to many very good players already there.
New D starters will either come from the varsity players last year or new imports. The Freshmen coming up will just gain some playing time and
