Now that's interesting, I say I'm from Glasgow, even though I grew up in Stanford. Scotty Pride runs pretty deep. Maybe we're the Butte of the East!! We're the butt of almost as many jokes.barechestcat wrote:Interesting you should bring that up. I was just in Butte this weekend for the state wrestling convention and our keynote speak for lunch on Saturday was Jim Street. He has a very large knowledge of both Montana and Butte history; which he shared with us. A part of his speech was in regards to the pride associated with coming from Butte. He spoke of several individuals who, when asked where they are from, will always say Butte regardless of where they may currently reside.bossman1 wrote:Butte is a cool town with a lot of really neat bunch of folks.
Great tradition and great loyalty
I wish there were more CAT FANS
they will grow out of the grizz loyalty I hope
Its my hometown "city" but not my hometown
I thought this was interesting as it is one step higher in terms of pride then perhaps what I do (when I'm asked this question, my standard reply is to say that I live in Bozeman but grew up in Glasgow).
Jim said that if America is the melting pot of the world, then Butte is the "stew".
I spent a weekend recently in that fine city, and I can attest that the people make the place, and the people couldn't have been more welcoming to this flatlander. Kudos to all the Butte natives and current residents, and I plan to visit again soon. Well at least Old Works!!
