Danny Sprinkle for MSU head coach!
I think Sprinkle would be a breath of fresh air for the Cat program if Mick were to be fired after this year...Depends on what kind of experience you are looking for, but Danny has worked under one of the top coaches in the west, at Northridge, and would do great at MSU

If Mick went, i would really need to see what Danny has been doing the last few years before i would or even could vote on the Subject. Is he the 1st , 2nd 3rd assistant at north ridge. What is he doing interms of responciblitities etc. . He is a young guy in terms of coaching but I do not nessisarilly hold that against him, but by the same token I would not hire him simply because he was Danny Sprinkle.
Gosh I don't want it to become a Hauck kind of deal!!!!!
OK, Griz it was a joke!twisted:
if you must send me hate mail, please PM it to BAC he will make sure I get it!

Danny is the youngest 1st head assistant in the nation and he'd be crazy to come to MSU. I spoke with him 2 weeks ago on the topic. He loves Bozeman and MSU and might look into it, but realizes that by staying with Bras he would probably be able to take his coaching to a solid D-1 program. Bras has told him that he will take Dan with him wherever he goes. Mark my words, you will see William Patrick Daniel Sprinkle in the Big time some day.

You don't find many 40-50 year old coaches at a mid major school like this very often (Mick). Usually that type of coach is at the bigger schools because they are proven winners and have a long term contract.
I would think that more often you will find young coaches on their way up in this position (Big Sky), so maybe a Danny Sprinkle is the type of coach we should hope to get should Mick not come back. How old are the oldest coaches in the league now? ....and how long and who did they study under? Sprinkle is from a coaching family with lots of contacts...that is surely why he is with Braswell. I agree that MSU may not be big enough for him when he is ready to have his own program, even if that is sooner rather than later.

No offense to Danny but I really don't think that he is the answer to the coaching position. Even if he is the 1st assistant out at Northridge, they haven't exactly been doing that well for quite some time. (Pretty much since they left the Big Sky). I wish him the best of luck but we don't need to get someone (again) who played in the program and is local just because.

No, but i do question why you do not think that he has what it takes? He has everything that it would take. Apparently you have not spent much time with him. Coach Braswell thinks he is the best recruiter in the conference. He has a passion for the game and is truly amazing with the kids that he coaches.

I guess i have my feelings and you can have yours. I know Dan very well and just don't think that he is going to be a big time coach. Don't get me wrong Bobby Braswell is a good coach but come on, why hasn't he moved on to a better program than Northridge? Last time I checked Northridge isn't the most lucrative of job or big time. But best of luck to Dan, he deserves the best!

Listen, if they asked me to be on the selection committee
Sprinkle's application and
or Interview would be one I would really , really like to look at. On many levels he
would be a great figure head to lead MSU's basketball. I would love it if he was the most
qualified (or hell even the top 5), but I would feel obligated to hire a great figure head and
a great coach!
It has already been proven at Montana, that hiring a Figure head with out any coaching
skills has disastrous result. Fortunately for the Griz their problem is now Townson
States!

I don't see the difference between Sprinkle and Durham except that Durham prepared in Highschool and with the Cats and Danny prepared at Nothridge. What's wrong with Northridge? Did you think we could get an assistant from Duke? Again how many Big Sky coaches were assistants at big time schools? Northridge is in a good area to solidify a recruiting base. If Danny is a good recruiter and he knows the LA area...maybe he could bring in some really good prospects. I remember when Northridge was in the BSC they had some outstanding players and the last few years challenged for the title every year.

Braswell actually had a chance to coach for UNLV and turned it down because he did not want his kids growing up in Las Vegas- not sure why, it cannot be a much worse environment than LA, but nonetheless, was approached. AZCAT- Not sure who you are, but I must have come across your path at some point if you know Dan well. I am surprised to think that you do not think he would be a great coach down the road at a bigger school than MSU. Anyone who knows Dan knows that he can bullsh** with the best of them and make people believe anything that he is saying. I think Dan should be considered for the job here in Bozeman, but he simply wants to go bigger.
