Bobcats vs. PSU is a BIG BIG Game with a W very much needed!
If we end up going 0-2 on this road trip, we will be looking at falling out of 1st place and into 2nd place. Getting a huge win at psu tomorrow night would be nice.

Tonight's game may very well decide whether the Bobcats are contenders or pretenders. If they lose, they are still very much in the race, but will lose all the momentum they have been building over the course of the last month. In addition, they will no longer surprise anyone, and they will be playing with a target on their backs every game here on in.
If the Cats pull off the win tonight, they will again manage to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the pack. Win tonight, and I think they win the Big Sky, flat out.
As much as I hate to say this, we should root for the griz to beat Eastern tonight. If the Eagles win, they are 5-2 and right in the thick of things. If the griz win, both teams are stuck at 4-3 and have a tough latter-half of the season. Actually, I will never "root" for the griz, but let's just say I will be very pleased if they win!

A win vs. PSU would help MSU much more than a loss will hurt. If they lose a split with NAU/SSU will be imperitive and they will need to win all the home games. If they win, they can either lose both at NAU/SSU or split those and be able to afford a home loss. An 11-3 record w/ home wins vs. PSU/EW will win the league. EW/PSU still have two at UM and have to play each other. It would be good for MSU to win tonight, but they can't buy into believing a loss kills them, and that's not likely to happen.

A MSU win puts the standings
MSU 6-1
EW 5-2 or 4-3
PSU 4-3
UM 4-3 or 3-4
WSU 4-4 or 3-5
That'd put MSU in very good shape w/ 5of-7 at home. MSU has to play great defense tonight, probably the best d game of the year to win. PSU is avg over 80 at home. MSU has only scored over 70 twice on the road (WSU, ISU) and has some pretty poor showings on road.

This game boils down to how Marvin Moss plays against Boxley. Marvin needs to focus more on rebounding and shutting down Seamus and whatever he scores will just be gravy. As a team, we need to get back to playing the hard-nosed defense that helped us win our first five games, we need to hit the boards HARD and keep PSU from getting easy put-backs, and we need to play as a team by passing the ball around and being patient for the open man.
It is going to be loud tonight, I hear PSU is pulling out all the stops for the humongous throng of 1,100 strong that may show up tonight!
I just have to ask, does anyone else just see a little red-headed stepchild with a piece of straw between his teeth when they see the name "Seamus"??? Or is it just me?

I think of Seamus Heaney, the poet.
