Frustrated with 3's!
They say that you live by the three or die by the three, but over the past two games, the Bobcats are 5 for 34 for threes!!! Let's hope that during practice this week, there are some plays that are run, that perhaps don't involve three pointers!!! The inside guys are very talented, so let's utilize them!!! Also, if the guards will penetrate a little, maybe that will make the 3 pointers open up a little.
Let's welcome the CATS back to the fieldhouse, and get back into the winning ways!!!!!
GO CATS!!!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. When the threes aren't falling, as they often don't on the road, you HAVE GOT to be able to take it inside. This is a lesson Mick has never bothered to learn or teach. Good teams win on the road by taking it inside, drawing fouls, and dictating the tempo of the game. When you play teams like Eastern and Portland State that have a huge size advantage inside, you attack them by taking it to the hole and hopefully getting those guys in foul trouble.
When you go 5-for-34 from three-land over the weekend, it is time to go back to the drawing board.
On another, even more pathetic, note: does anyone have the rebounding stats from this weekend? I would guess they are even worse than our three-point percentage.

I don't know if this qualifies as whining or excuse making, but didn't Atterbury mention that the whole team was affected by the flu this weekend? Miller supposedly had it bad on Thurday and I didn't hear anything out of Woodahl last night, and wasn't Towsley supposed to play some? Maybe everyone had a bit of it...at least I hope that was the reason for that anemic effort!

It seems to me they have to decide what kind of team they are. Are they a three point shooting team or are they inside oriented? They seemed to be satisfied going to Moss and Beye down low on the Weber ISU trip and quite successfully...however maybe they ran into a more physical presence in EWU and PSU and got taken out of any preconceptions about being an inside oriented team.
I guess we have to give the other coaches credit for preparing. What Mick has to do now is to make adjustments to our game that Weber and ISU will not be expecting given what happened this last weekend. It's a chess game. The only problem is that we cannot just start rebounding...or can we? If we can't...we had better be prepared to shoot the eyes out, introduce another 15 point scorer or two (maybe Dissly), or we will be looking at home losses!

Dissly doesn't need to get the ball more - he needs to be more aggressive when he does have the ball.MSU88 wrote:It all comes down to percentages.....we have been thrilled when they are hot, upset when they are not. Things will even out this week. Dissly needs to get the ball more.....three shots against EWU is not enough!

I agree Diss needs to get more aggressive, by as I was listening to the games it didn't seem like he was getting the ball much, and I have thought that at home games as well.BozoneCat wrote:Dissly doesn't need to get the ball more - he needs to be more aggressive when he does have the ball.MSU88 wrote:It all comes down to percentages.....we have been thrilled when they are hot, upset when they are not. My take on Dissly was that he really didn't want the ball last night. He made on nice strong move to the basket and had that nice 3 ball, but other than that he looked like he was uncomfortable with the ball in his hand. He would pass it off as soon as possible or take a few dribbles and panic. He was so passive last night I figured he was either sick or that he didn't want to be a Bobcat anymore.

rtb: Your analysis of a game is usually so much better. Yes, Dissly needs to take it to the hoop more often, but that is our opinion, not maybe what is being called with the plays. But.... "doesn't want to be a Bobcat anymore?" PLEEAAASSE! To say it about a Bobcat player, especially one that is so team oriented... Please try to focus on being a constructive fan!rtb wrote:My take on Dissly was that he really didn't want the ball last night. I am sorry, I don't mean to upset anyone with that sentence, but the two very casual basketball fans I went to the game with actually noticed Nick's lack of fire and drive before I did. Again, I have only seen these guys play once this year so I can't say how these guys are night in and night out, but Nick really showed no passion at PSU. Really when he had the ball he looked so scared to have it in his hands and found the quickest way to get rid of the ball. Just what I saw Saturday, I am not going to judge these guys based on one game.ESGGCG wrote:rtb: Your analysis of a game is usually so much better. Amen to That!!!!
I am sure the Cats will come back out with that fire that needs to get the job done this weekend and we need to get the fans involved and make some noise........I was impressed by how the PSU announcer stayed pumped up and kept everyone else up during the whole game....trust me Nick will heat it up pretty soon and it will be a great thing to watch!!
Go Cats and lets get back sole possesion of first place!
