This already in the Chronical. Looks like we got Mullins.

MSU football: 'Cats get three more oral commitments

By TIM DUMAS Chronicle Sports Writer

Three new high school recruits have orally committed to Montana State in advance of today's official signing date.

Two are from Montana schools and the other from California.

They are: kicker Eric Fisher of Billings West, defensive lineman Austin Mullins of Great Falls C.M. Russell and Denis Speights of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Fisherwas voted first-team all-state as a punter and second-team all-state as a kicker. He is expected to handle mostly kicking duties.

Fisher set school records for most point-after attempts made in a game (9-for-9 against Missoula Sentinel last fall) and season (48) as well as most field goals in a season (10) and career (16).

He missed four of 52 PAT tries this past season and his career long field goal is from 47 yards. Fisher is expected to be joined by West teammate Joe Schreibeis at MSU.

Schreibeis, a defensive end, said last week he was coming to Bozeman as well.

Mullins is a 6-foot-2, 222-pound defensive lineman who has been selected to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.

He is currently one of CMR's leading scorers in basketball.

Other CMR players who have orally committed to the Bobcats include linebacker Chase Gazzerro and offensive lineman Jeff Hansen.

Speights is a two-time all-California Interscholastic Federation (CIS) selection as a linebacker.

Playing for Mission Viejo High, Speights helped the Diablos to a 14-0 record and the CIF Southern Section Division II championship this past fall.

OK, this is more than a bit odd. I don't have any idea where Dumas(s?) is getting his information, but I am pretty sure that Mullins committed to UM yesterday. All the other newspapers in the state ran the story and used actual graduate-level techniques, such as verifying facts and using real live quotes.

Glad to have the other 2 aboard, though! Welcome to the Bobcat Family, fellas! :D

WELL well well! This directly contradicts what the Trib, Missoulian, and the Gazette wrote today (Tuesday) as far as Mullins goes! I wonder if our friend Welsh is going to be printing a retraction on Thursday, or was the a change of heart! I am figuring on the first.

You elected a ****** RAPIST to be our President

I'm guessing the former as well, but Tim Dum(b)as(s) wrote the article, not Jeff Welsch.

Seriously, how hard is it to verify this information before printing it? Every other paper ran this story yesterday, and they used actual quotes from Austin explaining briefly why he made his decision. If, somehow, he had a change of heart (doubt it), you would think the article would make at least some mention of that...

The Chronicle reverts back to the "Comical" in this day in history!

They already changed the story to two more commitments. I still like this class though. What ever happened to the tightend from Bozeman that was pretty high on some peoples lists early on?

The Comical strikes again! What a screw up in two area's:
First, Mullins to MSU when all other papers have announced UM
Second, while Fisher looks good, can't remember coach K ever defining a HS kid other than "expected to compete, or contribute immediately". Have not noticed him to say HS player xxx is expected to start at xxx position, only rarely.
Comical not only misleads fans, but think of what they are doing to these young recruits by putting words in the coaches mouth. Sad reporting, they must not realize how they are screwing with folks! Hence the title "Comically Sad".

This is probably the biggest screw up for the Comical as of late. I can't believe this would happen considering they (st.of mt papers) get the same info. I certainly know that date is February 2nd not April Fools for &*^&^& sake! What a Beavis!!!!

In defense of your 2nd point, If you re-read it, I think what he was trying to say is that Fisher was expected to be a kicker rather than a punter. Not necessarily saying that Fisher already landed the kicking job - unless Bolton is no longer with the team. Poorly written though...

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
