I don't think anyone is being overly negative here. If you ask most of us, we will say this is one of the best looking classes we have seen for many years. Frankly I could care less if we compare this to the Griz, the Griz will always get quality players, because they are a quality program with a lot of tradition. Rather, I'm not going to compare the two classes, I am going to be EXCITED about this class. I think we are going to have depth at every position, and I see no reason that this class won't contribute to another BSC championship, if not next year, then certainly in the next few years.
I am most excited about next year as of now, though. Lulay's last year, so we need to kick it in gear and have an 8 or 9 win season. I want to host a playoff game!

Well said Celtic, I agree with all of it.CelticCat wrote:I don't think anyone is being overly negative here. Once you start down the JC road it's hard to stop. After two years they're gone and now what start a freshman...probably not... so back to the JC"s again.
It's just a quick fix and I don't think creates the feeling of team among the players who get that feeling after being together for 4 or 5 years.
The JC's for sure on their first Griz/Cat game don't understand the importance.

Does this JC theory also apply to tranfer quarterbacks, or are transfer quarterbacks a good thing? And why do people try to distringuish between JC's and other transfers? The issues are identical with each of them, unless they transfer when they are really young (which is somewhat rare).bronco wrote:Once you start down the JC road it's hard to stop. I think both MSU and UM got very quality athletes. It will be up to all of them and coaching to push them to the next level though. MSU filled its NEEDS well though (minus QB) and we just need to worry about our team. We were competitive last year through ALL of our games and that was with several key injuries at all spots. We had lots of young players playing last year and with the filling in of some holes (DL/WR/RB) etc. this team is set to take it to the next level in my opinion.
MSU fans/coaches/players need to focus on our team/our players and not what other teams go and comparing them etc. If our team/coaches put the work in/come together its ALL IN OUR OWN HANDS on how far this team goes. We have the talent.

Of the top 100 recruits in the nation, 15 were from California. USC got 8 of those 15, but they also went out of state to get 4 top 100s because they had specific needs.raincat wrote:Happened to notice Arizona State signed 22 recruits, including 7 JC's...including 6'2" DT Will Kofe.
Also couldn't help but notice that of 152 new recruits brought in by Division 1 California schools (including SacState, but not including San Diego State) 34 (22%) are NOT from California.
There are three major states for recruits, California, Texas, and Florida. These states probably account for 50% of the top 100. The next 500 recruits in the nation probably come out of the same areas. This is because they get better playing against the best players. Competition is important in improvement.
U of Washington use to get the SoCal players instead of USC and they were a top team 5 years ago. In the last 5 years, USC now takes what they want from SoCal (thus taking

Like everyone else, I am excited about this class. Especially the linebackers that were signed. Couple of these kids could and may even be moved to the secondary. Would like to see Gazzerro at SS. If he has legit 4.4 speed then why not? Could you imagine a Kane Ioane with speed like that. That is what his kid could become.
Really like the beef up the middle that was added. I think Kolone is going to be a great player for us. Did I read correctly that Macciola had 20 sacks last year??? Hope he can do that at this level! Nice bunch of players and welcome to the Bobcat family.
GO CATS!!

If Goodman was already enrolled at UW fall semester, then he would not be signing an LOI and would not be on the list you mentioned. Actually I have heard through the grapevine that he is "going the opposite direction." Supposedly he ran into academic problems and is currently enrolled at a JC. Anyone else hear this?raincat wrote:Jason Goodman was not listed among the University of Washington's 13 recruits which included 5 (38%) from California.
